this sucks!!!

No-knock raid over an unpaid gas bill? What? Is that how you collect money for the gas company/utility? That makes no sense at all. Things have gotten way out of hand if the SWAT team is called out for a no-knock raid on a home because, as the report says, of an unpaid gas bill.

drug raid

The chief up there seems like an honestly good man. He's making good changes.
But those cops are coming out of decades of corruption under corrupt leadership.

Turning off the gas service in response to an unpaid bill, is not nearly as much fun as getting all dolled up in SWAT uniform and shooting dogs, apparently.

Gas and electric off. The woman agreed to allow inspectors into the home when her husband was home. They wanted to declare it uninhabitable or something like that.

I hope she gets enough to pay all of her bills and buy a house. I don't recall if it said if it was rented or not, but could be a lease or mortgage violation?

At some point folks are going to have to come to terms with a reality that is nothing like the idealized version of life where someone is honorable and virtuous because of the magic costume they suit up in before going to work.

The job attracts a certain personality type....and this kind of wanton violence seperated from personal accountability is not isolated to major metropolitan police departments; its inherent in the system where courts have held for decades that cops can't possibly be held accountable for their actions.

The ONLY reason this one is turning out differently - and this is true for most of these cases - is video evidence that cops routinely lie in official reports to cover their asses.

Probably worse in small to medium sized departments that don't pay much and have lower standards. I had a situation where the neighbors unruly dog bit a jogger and the cop lied when I asked if the jogger described me, the house and the address.

He rolled up on my house and walked across the yard. I was out in the garage, so I met him halfway.

Cop Question 1 - Do you have two dogs?
Answer - one word, yes.

Cop Question 2 - Is one a large dark colored dog and the other smaller and light colored?
Answer - one word, yes.

Then he proceeds to tell me my larger dog bit someone that morning.
Response - one word, No.

See above for 2 more rounds of this crap.

First I was home all day and NEVER took either dog out front without a leash. I even leashed the larger one on a long lead before we put up a fence for time out in the back to do their business. The smaller one was an ancient seriously obese Chihuahua, I let her out back unleashed but supervised, it wasn't like she could get far since I kept an eye on her.

Cop then proceeds at this point to raise the steel clipboard over his head as though he was going to strike me with it and reached behind his back, I'm guessing to deploy his pepper spray. I firmly believe he was trying to get me to raise my hands which would have been in self defense if I had done so, to use as an excuse to take action and say I instigated it. Instead I just stared him the eye, kept my arms folded in front of me. (Just a tip, don't cross your arms. Witnesses are likely to remember that they saw your arms crossed in front of you, but it's quicker to not have to uncross your arms to defend yourself.) He then lowered the clipboard and brought his hand out in front. He looked a bit unnerved that he didn't intimidate me. I looked at him and asked my questions about what he was told then then gave him the listen up dumbass sigh you give a teenager when they don't get it and proceeded to tell him that I had been in my garage that morning and told him although I didn't witness it, I heard something next door that sounded an awful lot like a snarling dog attacking someone and the jogger crying out in pain. He asked if they were home, and I told him to go find out. I didn't keep track of those buttholes. He's in the house next door for about 45 minutes, and I waited and walked over to the SUV he was driving and asked Sherlock if he solved the big case. He then proceeds to tell me that what the jogger that got bitten told him was that it was the second house from the corner. The house on the corner is on the cross street. Mine is the first house from the corner. the neighbor is the second. I don't resemble in the slightest that neighbor and the houses are totally different colors. Mine is light and the neighbors is a dark color. So not only did he straight up lie, apparently forgot or didn't care that he lied, and couldn't conceive of a different conclusion that he had already made up in his mind. Had I not heard what happened, it could have gotten ugly since he never let me get a word in edgewise until he lowered the steel clipboard. Just kept asking the same 2 questions followed by the statement. As though I would fess up if he kept asking the same thing over and over, or attempt to intimidate me. Just my opinion, but this was not a very intelligent person I was dealing with.

Some lie and maim and kill with impunity. Then wonder why a number of people don't much care for them in general. Serve and protect my ass. Even SCOTUS has decided they can lie and have their qualified immunity and have no obligation to protect anybody. I know that all aren't like the clown I was dealing with, but it seems to be heading in that direction.

Rant over. Sorry if any of the decent police officer members here get butthurt over my commentary. I'm probably a bit ornery because i just dropped my property tax check in the mail.
