Do you know someone in the Pittsboro area with decent pricing?
My son’s AC is blowing warm air during the heat of the day.
It’s a 410 system today at 91 degrees at 54% humidity it had 33 psi low and 225 on the high side.
Thanks!

Lowside should be close to 125

If it weren't 2.5 hours I come take care of it

Really odd. Sounds like something is moving through the system blocking the flow

If thats the case an inline filter could be installed . When I did install, I always put one in to catch or prevent this

Heat pump or straight ac?

If heat pump could be a reversing valve issue as well

Heat pump, I was wondering about the valve.
It is a capacitor and it's a $15 part on amazon. They will charge you $200 for it plus the visit.
Change it. It's no big deal even if that is not it. That is the most common issue.

Likely this one but just open the panel on your outside compressor and check the uf

I’ll test the cap, it’s odd you can hear the compressor hummin’ and the fan’s running in both conditions.

If you end up calling someone, we’ve done a lot of business with Ideal Services out of Holly Springs and would recommend them. As an example, when we purchased their service contract which included spring and fall PM, the tech did the most thorough cleaning and maintenance I’ve ever seen one do, including taking the top of the condenser unit off (the whole lid and fan assembly comes off with a few screws) to clean the unit out and spray the coils from the inside.

Hate to say it, but finding honest HVAC service is worse than automotive. Last winter / spring the upstairs blower fan at my high point house wouldn’t shut off, except when you turn the system off at the breaker. As we’re not there much, and hadn’t stayed there long term this spring I didn’t turn on the AC until recently and called to have it serviced. Surprisingly, it was working just fine, coming on and off. Here’s the kicker. A few years ago, during the PM, the tech told me that the hermetically sealed motor was leaking oil and getting ready to fail. I declined the $300:fee for changing it at that time and figured it was pulling too much current and froze the relay as the reason it wouldn’t shut off. The tech came to check it last week and i specifically asked questions about the motor. No oil, no leaks, no indication of malfunction, current readings well within normal. Which one lied?

I've just enough knowledge to hopefully catch BS. 25+ years ago I was a auto mech and fixed a home AC unit a time or two. I still have my old R12/22 gages.
Can 410 be purchased without an AC license?

The capacitor is necessary to get the compressor and fan going. They can independently not get the jolt they need. The fan gets it's jolt ok but the compressor doesn't. There are two circuits in the capacitor. Three poles. Fan, compressor both to ground.

No state license necessary but the seller is required by law to get a copy of a EPA certificate which you have passed to work on refrigerant contained items. The pressures you describe indicate low refrigerant charge or a thermostatic expansion valve operating sporadic. Hard to say without being there and making other checks such as voltage, reversing valve position, etc... Your red gauge (high pressure gauge) and suction gauge are both way under the normal pressures for the exact same amounts for R410A refrigerant.
