Hi guys

Looking for some info.

I have always shot on my property unless i was going to a match. Thata getting hardee to do with new land owners behind me.

Looking for anyone who is, or has been, a member at ccgc or cggr ranges.

Just curious whats available to members?

Just bare box ranges?
Access to target stands for metrics etc?
Access to club steel?
Any nit picky rules that make it hard for practical shooting practices?

Both member fees look competitively priced and im willing to drive to either, ccgc is much closee though.

As always thanks a million guys

At some point it just gets old greeting deputies in my driveway

Have a target set up for them and give them an invite to shoot too. Make friends with the cops. Goes a long way to tell the neighbor to mind their own business.

I grew up in a rural area. Dad had a shooting lane that was about 125 yards long that ended with a stump dirt pile. I still pump lead into it every once in a while. I've had access to this for almost 50 years. Never had any problems. When I start, sometimes you'll hear someone else start busting caps close by.

They have always been super cool about it and never given me a hard time. They always looked like they wanted to shoot lol.

Well if they don't, that's on them. I would offer them a cold bottle of water or soft drink. Them more that are on your side the better off you will be.

As for the neighbors, send them some realtor referrals.

As for me, we love the smell of gunpowder. Freedom.

My wife is the true southern lady and usually offers them sweet tea or water.
We usually end up talking about my guna or uspsa.

The last time they showed up we ended up doing a gun room tour.

Will keep mulling it over on the membership vs staying on my property

Actually yes in the long run and my neihboor can hook me up.
Problem is i have people in the area who were calling the cops frequently, even though i was legal before.

Get an Air Raid Siren and give them a 10 minute warning roll. :p

Lotsa Poleeeece through here. Never had a noise/shooting problem......yet. Stay home and shoot. The further you get from home the more dangerous your surroundings become. During the quarintine the furthest I went for 2 months was the mail box. ....Please, don't throw me in dat briar patch!

I am a member out at CCGC. Pretty laid back. They are strict on the intro but once you are in its nice. When I go on the weekday mornings nobody is ever there. You get a scan card...drive up...scan....electric gate opens and you go shoot. I dont use my membership as much as I should but its nice taking my 7 year old out..testing guns...teaching him to shoot etc. As long as you are responsible its all good. All the members I have met have been great.

They have all kinds of events on the weekends....cookouts....competitions etc. They dont really have a clubhouse (might be working on it) but there are lots of bays to shoot at. Testing and sight in areas...pistols bays....rifle...shotgun etc. etc. I typically shoot at the same place but its a neat place. Usually when out there with my son we walk all the property when we are done. Nice drive through the country on the way out.

Like I said... when I go out there nobody is around. Maybe one or two other people but you never see them. Its a pretty big area. Most people just drive right up to there shooting bay. I usually dont (think your supposed to use the parking area) just because I follow the rules and like to be curtious. But people do it without causing problems.

There is a guy out there.. Bill I think his name is. Pulls a wagon around with all his shooting gear. Nice old guy... total gun reloading nerd who loves talking about firearms. He basically forced me to try his raging bull in 454...HaHa. He let me start with powder puff 45 colts before moving up to the monster loads. I really wish I got out there to meet the members more. I am just shy. If you like to compete its a pretty happening place on the weekends.

Hours are dawn till dusk all year around last time I checked. I dont think they allow night fire. No tracers either. Shotgun play is discouraged on pistol bays because it detroys the plywood backstops. Long range pistol shooting can be a little tricky if people are there. I think the range officer (who I never have encountered) has to OK it. When I go out there is no range officer. Might be a weekend thing.

Thanks for your input

Are their target stands put and available to be setup for drills in the pistol bays?

I need to get out my grandfather's copy of Uncle Remus and do some reading. We grew up on those stories.

taret stands are just plywood sheet nailed to posts... Kind of like a fixed fence in front of you. I just staple paper plates to the boards. When I go there is nobody around so I just stand at different distances and proceed on. I sometimes do a little movement and use multiple targets. Nothing radical though. If you are there with other people you will probably need to communicate on what you are doing.... or find another bay.

On the bay I typically use... sight in bay... the sheltered area is at the 30 yard line. I typically start up close and move my way back. I probably wouldnt like it as much during a busy time because I am selfish and like my space. Like I said....I have not come across a range officer out there when I go. You could probably do whatever you want when its like that as long as your rounds are hitting the dirt behind the the plywood. I did a bunch of jumpropes out there one day to get my hands shaking before shooting. Wanted to see if I could shoot when exhausted. I probably broke a few rules that day but I was alone and everything was safe. Shotgun/pistol bay I did some move and shoot on old milk jugs. The shotgun bay is pretty basic. No fence... just dirt.

They like you to clean up after yourself. Its all pretty common sense stuff. The rifle ranges are the nicest... big open areas with nocer sheltered areas. Thats typically where people are at If I am out there and people are around. The smaller bays are more down and dirty.

Thanks again
