I’ll admit to not keeping up with the discussion on mail-in voting. I did read an article in the last day or two about the issue being they’re (not sure who) proactively sending out applications for absentee votes. Several states are doing it, and the discussion is going national.

Well, today my wife gets on in the mail. It includes a personalized letter to her (obvious form letter with her name added) which also has a small chart comparing her voting participation score to all voters. Also has a 2020 State Absentee Ballot Request Form. Plus a postage-paid envelope to the Meck Co BOE, with her name and address as the return address.

She’s a registered D. Just never changed it from her earlier years, unlike my dad who does it so he can try to impact it at the primary level (instead of going Unaffiliated, dunno why).

Anybody else getting these, yet? Wonder if they’ll go out to registered R voters.

note at the bottom says mailing is paid for by the Center for Voter Information

It sounds like the Drooling Joe Biden voter outreach program. About zero likelihood of this group getting Rs to vote.

We got them today. We are both unaffiliated voters.

So Dems and Unaffiliated.

If anybody that’s a registered Repub gets one, please let us know.

Probably because she's registered D and they hope she will copy it and give it to every dead person she knows

Yup, got this today, came here to post about it and saw your thread.

I am registered unaffiliated and was curious as to whether these are going out to all voters or just a subset.

my wife and i both got some thing that did its best to look like an official document. we pitched them
I got a call yesterday from a young girl in california wanting to ask me a survey about how to get more democrats on the ballot in NC - she couldn't keep candidates straight and didn't know their positions
I got a call today from somebody wanting to ask me a long survey and suggested that i decline if i didn't have a solid few minutes - i declined.
My wife got a call just after dinner and i said "oh, is it a national research group wanting to conduct a survey?" and she was like "HOW DID YOU KNOW???"

I find it funny that they send them to “unaffiliated”. Because voter registration info is public record and so easily found online, I’ll never register as a single party for the simple fact that it could be used against me and offers me no upside. It could be used as a reason to target someone, could be used against me professionally (despite being illegal), and frankly both parties suck anyway.

I got one, it was sent by some Trump support group. Both sides are at it.

Glad to hear it is at least balanced, and glad NC doesn't seem to have any real momentum for vote by mail. We do seem to be on track for another 'dangling chad' debacle nationally. With any luck, this time the controversial states won't have enough electoral votes to tip the result.

Are these real? It could be a real inexpensive way to misdirect votes.

The person fills out, sends it in, does not vote in person (already voted, right?). Meanwhile the ballot gets rejected due to it not being official. One vote not counted.

I'm off to get more coffee and tin foil...

I did not get a ballot, I got an application for an absentee ballot. Far as I know NC does not have vote by mail and is not on course to start it.

USPS Informed Delivery shows that the wife will get one today. Registered D. I'm registered Unaffiliated and haven't received one.

This will be most contested election ever with cheating being the norm. The only way I see a mail-in vote being proven valid is once the voting district receives a ballot is they mail the voter a return receipt requested letter to let the voter know their vote is counted and the return receipt request verifyies the voter’s acknowledgement. The problem with using the mail is the postal system can not be trusted to do verification with any certainty. At least the evening news reporters will have something to talk about!

I got one last week. I was tempted to wipe my ass with it and mail it back - but was afraid they'd count it as a vote for Double Barrel Biden.

New York just had like 80,000 mail in ballots disqualified for various reasons from being late to no signature to no postmark ... you gotta wonder how screwed up November 9th will get ...

Which was 25% of the votes cast in that election. And they talk about Republicans disenfranchising voters. SMDH All their current arguments are just mirrors of their own behavior or deflections of their own behavior onto R's.

Got this one today. It has two copies of the forms you fill out, but no “postage paid” envelope included. You’re supposed to just fold the form over, tape it, and use your own stamp.

As far as we know now, we should be able to mask up and vote in person, right? Possibly early?

Not that I don’t trust the mail-in method...

Well, I read it on the internet so it's got to be true........

"FOOD FOR THOUGHT::::::I was just listening to the Mark Kaye Show, and he made an interesting point to one of his callers. The question asked was about why the Democratic Party was pushing mail-in ballots so much. He stated that mail-in ballots was about winning the Presidency. But not a Joe Biden Presidency.

The Democrats know that using mail-in ballots will totally screw up the system, and put a major halt on determining who actually won the election. If the ballots are not counted and a winner determined by noon on January 20, 2021, the the sitting President and Vice President will lose their seat. An interim President will be announced at that point. The Presidency will go to the third in line for the Presidency which is the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

Impeachment didn't work, Covid-19 didn't work, so they're going to "cook the books" so to speak with the election. They have pushed and pushed the mail in ballots this whole time knowing that if they can get it passed, Pelosi will take over as President. Biden has known from the beginning that he would never see the white house. They used him as a pawn to distract the American people from what is actually about to take place. President Trump stated this morning on Fox and Friends that mail-in ballots will delay the outcome of the election for months, if not years. And the Democrats have known all along what they are doing. Let's hope not, folks. I love this country too much to see it die at the hands of a drunken dictator."

I received a voter ballot for the state of Wisconsin. I guess this makes sense because I was previously a resident of Wisconsin.

Since I have been a registered Republican voter in the state of North Carolina since 2015 now does make me wonder who and what just might be driving this train however.

Things that make you go hummmmmmmmmmmmm!

Same here. I don't trust them though. I'll stand in line, thank you. Since I paid for the ticket I want to go for the ride and see the show.

It is really frustrating to me how the Dems are relentlessly trying to equate absentee ballots, which as I understand are ballots only sent out to verified requestors, with full on mail in voting where ballots are sent to everyone in the election database which is full of errors, and which has already been a nightmare in NY and NJ primaries.

As far as the Pelosi scenario, I am hoping that the electoral system can save us from that. Is it fair to say that the electoral have to cast their votes by a certain deadline to determine the president, and they don't necessarily need to wait for every vote to be tallied to cast their votes?

I suppose that they could be tied up in court for that too.

I have never both looked forward to and feared an election like I do this one.
