Battle Belt setup...let’s see them

Actually no you do not. I used to backpack a lot with the boy scouts. A good back pack puts all the weight or at least most of it on your hips. The shoulders are not the primary load carrying point. A properly fitted backpack has little shoulder weight. Shoulders are just there to keep it upright.

I always been taught, and confirmed (at least for external frame designs) the other way around. Seems to be the default in y day and age. For all I know this is an AR vs AK debate in more diehard packing communities...

I guess my stuff isn’t all “battle worn” mostly because I haven’t been into any battles.

As to getting used, I live on a couple acres with no neighbors so I put it on 2-3 times a week for an hour or two to try to get use to wearing it.

I shoot 3/4 days per week depending. Most of the time that’s with my concealed carry set up and/or 22lr. I dry fire almost daily. I haven’t taken any classes but wouldn’t mind it. Do I think I’m an operator? No, but I do feel somewhat confident in my shooting.

I think Chuckman is pretty much right on this topic. If you are going to wear a belt optimize it for what you are doing. I will say the new hotness is plate carriers that are small, front and back only and have little on it and it tend to ride a bit higher with less cummerbund issues. So you put a lot of useful stuff on the belt.

For me the belt is not an issue EXCEPT when you work inside a vehicle. You're tactical TuTu (as i call it), is not vehicle friendly unless it is super slim.

It is a nice thing to have, but for us average civilian types, the times you can wear this stuff is fairly limited. Basically for classes where we Larp as DeltaNinjaSeals. Still very useful to have and train with imho. May come a time it is more useful for you. Best to train and learn what to put where now. I guess i was wrong and everyone is carrying dump pouches already! My bad. Mine is always unrolled cause i am lazy.

I also used to do some backpacking and I’m glad you posted those pics. It seems like your blending “how to distribute weight IN your pack” vs “how to wear/fit your pack”. Osprey for example makes such a big deal about getting the hip belt fitted correctly that they have heat form machines in every REI. Pack weight is best supported by the hips and stabilized by your shoulders/back. Those packs with a little 1” nylon strap and buckle for a hip belt, aren’t doing anything but that’s why those are also only found on small <30L packs.
How to distribute the weight within your pack, is a little bit of AR vs AK, or old school vs new school thing.

Just want to say, this got way off track from being a gear pic thread haha, not to say it’s not mostly useful conversation though.

Dump pouch came in today from T. rex arms. I’ll post a couple pictures later tonight or in the am when I get it attached.

Still looking for a slimmer med pouch. I’d like one of the bfg micro trauma kits but can’t find them in stock.

Edited to add pictures. I haven’t done anything with it besides attach it to my belt so far. I’ll mess with it a bit the next couple days being I’ll be off work. Looks like all the rest I guess. Whatever you come up with, wear it fully loaded all day and check out how you feel by the end of the day. I personally have not been able to wear a lot of weight on the hips without some weight distribution on the shoulders also. I also find heavily weighted battle rig belts pull my pants down :)

I use an LBE rig,
Combat survival knife on left shoulder strap. (has fishing line, hooks, matches, finger saw.
LED flash light on right shoulder Strap.
120 rds 556 for the AR15, w/cleaning kit and 5 extra rounds in butt.
21 rds for the 1911a1 in a thigh holster
first aid kit, emergency heat packs, solar blankets, matches, orange surveyors tape for marking distances, small U.S. army survival booklet.
Military canteen.
Military compass.
1 big honking Bowie knife, doubles as a hatchet.
And probably a few other things i have forgotten.

I use it for hunting too, was up in Washington state with a lot of real estate to get lost or hurt in.

As a proud Seabee, if I ever find I have need for a "battle belt" in the real world I'll just liberate one from one of you legs.

There’s really no other way to efficiently load up if run-n-gun is your typical range day. Unless you training for a relay race...some call it a battle belt, I call it a shooting utility belt. Instead of hammer and screw drivers it holds guns and ammo :)

funny you mention run-n-gun...those events are a GREAT test bed for what may actually work in a SHTF scenario.

I’ve learned a LOT about my gear and how it would work - or not work - in something that closely resembles an actual “get home” situation.

I signed up for this one today. Grab a buddy and give it a go. 5K “run” with 4-5 shooting stages and a bit of obstacle course thrown in. I and many others walked ~50% or more last month. Nobody cars if you actually “run”.

HSGI slim grip outer belt with their cobra buckle riggers belt inside. Safariland 6390RDS holster for Glock and Sig setups, G-Code scorpion mag pouches and Granite Tactical dump pouch.

oh and I’m one of those weird left eye dominant shooters. Shoot rifle left and pistols right, so it makes it a little difficult to carry rifle mags on a belt.
