300BO guys be careful

Can't get the link to load for some reason...

I'm sure it is another idiot who put the wrong ammo in his gun or setback a handloads...

Tired of hearing about these dangerous guns...

Use the right ammo for the gun, and if you reload be careful.

One of (but not the only) reason I got out of the caliber, not impressed with the round really and certainly not worth the added risk. Also one of the reasons I dont have 20 gauges since I have so many 12 gauges.
7.62x39 > 300BLK anyway....

while i really not a really big fan of the 300blk, i do have one for sub shooting.

now with that said, i’m not defending the round in any sense but he 300 just happens to be a popular round. it’s not hard to take 2 seconds to look at the mag you’re about to insert and see what rounds are loaded

understand, any case that shares a parent case on any platform you run this same risk.

i know i have to be careful.

i have 3 calibers based on the 308 case.

2 on the 223 case with a possible 3rd coming in to the mix.

In afraid I’d end up being one to go kaboom. My only 300blk is a bolt gun. Hopefully it’s idiot proof enough that I gets no kaboom from a mixup.

Nothing to do with .300BLK but since were talking about stupid...

guy in my concealed carry class 12 or 13 years ago was shooting .32 shorts in a .380, wondering why it wasn’t cycling or hitting the target, and he passed the class

I call BS. I’ve tried to chamber a BO in a 5.56 AR just to see if it would work. It won’t. And no amount of hammering on the forward assist would get it to chamber.

You can, however, do the reverse. Not as catastrophic but bad for the barrel.

.300 blk is with Lancer Mags marked for it only have one and those mags stay in the case for it.. Had the youngest daughter out the past weekend and tossed out a bunch of mixed ammo on the table so she could identify the correct rounds and understand the differences. Good learning and explained the best rule is to only have out what you are shooting at the time. Reading the head stamp and the gun itself.

Let's see, a cartridge has the potential to chamber in the very gun and original cartridge it was designed from. That shouldn't be a surprise.

My rounds won't chamber, post #2
You guys just aren't trying hard enough. :D

Actually, I see in the picture where the 300BLK is headspacing on the ogive of the bullet, so it's likely bullet and seating depth dependent or if the bullet is setting back during chambering.

Maybe not in your firearm, but it is a common "Product Service" (catastrophic failure) case in the industry. Just saw pictures this morning of the exact same thing happening, but in this case it blew the barrel apart from the upper and destroyed the bolt and blew the mag out. I have never tried to chamber one in a .223, but I have seen enough cases I know it can be done. Maybe reloads, maybe factory ammo. Not sure about that.

Damn. Is it just with .223 or .556 rifles too?
All my AR’s are 5.56.

Like I said someone warned me about it and I thought there’s no way. So I tried it in a few of my AR’s just to see if I needed to be careful.

About a year ago I was at the range and loading loose 5.56 out of a can while talking with a friend. Somehow a BO round got mixed in the bucket.

On the firing line I had a malfunction. Saw it wasn’t seated so tried to assist it. Noting. Ejected the round and it was the BO round.

Good thing it didn't go kaboom and had a good crimp or a compressed load. I grabbed a factory 150g that almost fell out of the brass with a hammerpuller. It wasn't a compressed load either, it wold have chambered in my 223 Wyld & 5.56.

Not sure on the chamber dimensions. The one I saw this morning was a 5.56 chamber. Someone that does more reloading and is more familiar with the slight differences in the .223 chamber compared to the 5.56 may be able to answer that.
