I was snooping through armslist and found an impossible glock. It is billed as a 1987 glock 23.

Has anyone ever seen a glock 19 or 23 from 1987???

I don't think the glock 19 was released until 1988. I don't think the 40 s&w was invented until later... But there it is. My guess is that it is a very early 19 that someone changed barrels on, it looks like the barrel sn doesnt match, but that's just a guess... I've heard of people who cut down glock 17's back in the day. so it could be that. they have one of the early Tupperware boxes, and it seemed pretty interesting so I thought I'd share. Im On a tablet and can't do a screenshot... but will try to post a link or the photos from the ad.

Not a Glock guy at all, but that’s not a factory gun and that’s not the box it came in.

The SN isn't clear enough to read it to try and date it off the barrel or the slide, but they definitely don't match

It's not a G19 frame, that early of a G19 frame wouldn't have a 3rd pin.

This, the G19 would have been a 2 pin frame.

It’s not a gen 1 frame at all. Didn’t the square block stippling on the front strap start with gen 2?

So it’s a gen 2 23 with the wrong box and a confused owner. Possibly with a barrel that doesn’t match the frame.

I had a G19 dating back to probably 1996 or so that was a two pin will a "BUTxxx" SN.

This maybe indeed a early G23 but it wouldn't have been until 1990 at the earliest.

This is a Austrian made G23 from 1999

Note the difference in the Made in marking above the magazine release and the lack of hexagon proof mark on the barrel. Also compared the fit to the dust cover and slide on my frame vs the one in question.

The arms list on is a cobbled together parts gun.

Out of curiosity I messaged the seller to ask if they'd tell me the SN prefix.

Yep, Gen 1s had the same texture on the front strap as the grips.

I have an early Gen 3 G17 that is a 2 pin frame.

Here is my Glock 19 that I bought new in 1989 (NTD Made in March 1989). It was made in Austria, but only has Glock Inc., Smyrna, GA, molded into the frame. The lid of the tupperware box also has 9x19mm PARA molded into it.

Seller sent a picture of the frame SN.
Gen 2 manufactured in 1990. It's one of the first G23 date codes out there, but it's not a Gen 1 (I don't think there was ever a Gen 1 G23 to be honest) and certainly wasn't made in 1987. Still don't think the slide SN matches.

He's set on the price BTW.....He "knows what he has...."

I think that "award" sticker was put on boxes for a while, not just for the G17. It's basically a marketing brag. The actual model/serial/etc is on a sticker on the side of the box (as with my G23). If it's just a Gen 1 box though, that's still worth $125+ from when I went looking for a box. Don't ask.

Also, the originals did have some problems with barrels. My 1993 G23 was splitting cases and the chamber was WAY over-sized, it went back to Glock and they replaced the barrel (tha thad a different serial) and then put an "updated" sticker (literally says UPDATED and has a new serial) over the top of the old one. It's got 3 pins, btw.

Ruined the collectors value for sure.

@knifeman32 will know for sure, he knows everything Glock.
