Person shot and killed during pro-Trump car caravan through downtown Portland

One article has comments from his sister, who said he had long-term drug problems.

I don’t understand why we are not just going to war already.

they are cheering on execution of this guy.

we are cheering on Kyle for pile of commies.

both sides are so overtly content with the killing of each, it’s almost silly were not just taking that’s next step. At least then we are formal enemies and it’s no longer murder.

OK, I'm all about protesting. I'm all about rallies. I'm all about showing your support and whatnot.

HOWEVER...I'm also all about being in stupid places with stupid people at stupid times doing stupid things.

Any number of things could have been done differently here, starting with simply not going in the first place.

BUT...BUT...BUT..."REASONS"!

Yeah..."reasons". In light of the very real potential for deadly violence in some of these places, how important are those "reasons"? What is ACTUALLY your justification for doing what you're doing?

Because let's face it...there are instigators on both sides of this.

And speaking of "instigators"...let's talk about the "stupid people" aspect here.

If you're going to rally people together for a peaceful parade or whatever you call it, you better damn well vet the people attending this event. And each and every one of those dumb*ss mofos needs to understand that the LAST thing they need to be doing is hanging out the windows screaming insults and threats and (apparently) shooting paintball guns and the like.

If you're going to parade people like this, you need to be absolutely, positively, 100% in the right...and very visibly so. It's no stretch to realize that the people on the other end of this WON'T be. So, if there's a goal to this other than showing your political pride and whatnot, it's to demonstrate that YOU and YOUR PEOPLE in the rally are conducting yourselves peacefully and those who oppose you are CLEARLY not.

Remember Nick Sandmann? Idiots were all up in his face and he LET THEM SHOW THEMSELVES TO BE THE *SSHOLES THEY ARE...and it backfired on those people in a major way. To the tune, currently, of a few hundred million dollars in his favor, in fact.

Now...how about that whole "stupid time" thing? MAYBE it's not the SMARTEST thing in the world to be doing this at the height of all this civil unrest. And, if so, how about at an ADJACENT location which would require these "protesters" to actively relocate themselves with the CLEAR intent to disrupt an otherwise peaceful rally?

Yeah, I get it..."Sometimes you gotta make a stand."

How much of a stand am I making if I end up leaving my family destitute over something stupid? Or we lose one of our daughters who, big hearted as she is, was attending a protest? Or one of our children ends up in a hospital because a college protest got way out of hand?

In general, there are three ways to handle things: The "right" way, the "wrong" way, and the "smart" way.

MOST right and wrong ways are pretty clear, and the correct course of action is likewise clear.

However, for those other instances you'd better engage your noggin and figure out the "smart" way to go about business.

I certainly get your point, but this guy died at least making a stand for something. Most die because they love smoking, bread and sugary soda, drinking, the comfort of a sedentary lifestyle, drugs, or some combination thereof. Hell, I had a friend die because somebody drove by him and wanted to see what it would feel like to stab somebody, so, in the pantheon of reasons to die, this certainly ranks higher than "killed by drunk driver that just stole some phone cards"
