What you had at 21

Pretty much this exactly:

When I graduated high school in 91 I bought an either 83 or 85, cream colored, 5 speed, Saab 900 Turbo for $2500. It’s still one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned. It was an absolute blast to drive.

I had it till I was about 23 or 24 when someone ran into to front end and I got $100 trade in for it.

Over the years I’d had to reroute the PCV directly into the exhaust to keep from fouling the air cleaner every 500 miles, melt plastic onto the air intake to “weld” the cracks in it, replace the fuel pump and the ignition, knock out the clogged catalytic converter and other feats of redneck engineering.

No pictures of the car but it looked just like this one.

I never owned one but it's always been one of my favorite cars. They just looked cool.

i turned 21 in 91 and had an 83 900 Turbo with the manual transmission. Loved that car and never had to worry about someone stealing it because of where the ignition switch was (no one could find it)

Funny story about that car. I moved to St Michael’s MD to live with my Uncle in 91 and everyone would meet at the one bar after work/dinner. It was a small town and everyone knew each other, so it was not uncommon to stumble out to the parking lot and get into a car, any car, to go home. Everyone would meet back in the parking lot the next morning around 6am to trade cars back. Mine was the only vehicle to never be taken because, even though the keys were in the ignition, no one could find them

LMAO. I always got a kick out of a buddy wanting to borrow my car to run into Jacksonville for a beer run. I’d toss them the keys and then sit back and watch the confused search.

Where is the ignition?

Your story reminds me of being at a bonfire party with my friend out in far Western Lincoln Co. He had pregamed a little too hard and told us he was going to pass out in the bed of the our buddy's Ford Ranger. We kept going, and at the end of the night, homeboy wasn't in the bed of the truck. We figured he hooked up with somebody and got a ride. We get back to his house and he ain't there, but we pass out on the patio out back.

The next day, around noon, we get a call. It's a our friend from a payphone at a suprette in Casar. Apparently, he crawled into the bed of a wrong truck and got hauled out into BFE and had to walk for several hours before finding the damn gas station.

Please tell me you still have this.
A girl tailended me on the interstate and tore it up a bit. I got a 1978 Scout (it was not as good) and gave the 1971 to my brother. He kept it for several years and sold it to his postman. That 1971 Scout was a wonderful vehicle. I would love to have a new one. I still have the boat and trailer.

At 21 I had a 1973 Grand Am, 1953 F-100, 52 Chevy 5 window PU.

I bought a new '82 900 Turbo while working in Oswego, NY at a nuc power plant jobsite, fun car.

I was 21 in '77, and I was driving a red '72 Pinto.....sorry, no pics. That car took a lot of abuse and kept on going. It did the "Gopher 500" many times....lol.

I drove it until I was about 27. After that I got the family Dart....eeewwwwwww!!!!!

Drove dad's 1971 Fury two door with the 318 V8, 82 yr old Mayor of the small town near my home ran a red light and totaled the car, got a '75 Mercury Bobcat, it has the V6 and dual exhaust, that car hauled ass, then drove a Plymouth Fury III. All were used cars, no photos so found these on the web.
