Not my favorite gun but kinda cool. Made in 1966? Was missing a magazine (bought a factory one). Missing the dust cover, anyone got one?

Anyway, basically a bolt gun as it only feeds them one at a time. Feeds smooth at least? I suspect factory ammo is too long but I'm wondering if there's anything else I might try?

Been cleaned thoroughly like 7 times at this point. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Welcome to the jammomatic. I've had at least 10 of these. Only 1 ever fed and functioned like it should. The 3006. What caliber ?

Yeah, its a 30-06. Its very accurate but thats about it. Seems like people online dont like them much because they wear themselves out inside... this one looks alright.

Dumb you gotta remove the barrel to get the bolt out... but anyway, how did you keeps yours running? Was it ammo sensitive?

The 742 is the Yugo of semi-auto hunting rifles....feeding and ejection problems are infamous in these guns...JUST A LOUSY DESIGN. The biggest headache occurs when the bolt guide rails develop rust. When that occurs it usually leads to pitting for which there is no “fix”....

I have had a few 742s. I currently have a 7400 which I have never had an issue with. The 742s that I have had liked to be ran pretty wet. I know it sounds silly but I would put a few drops of RemOil on the top round of the mag and a few drops internal on the bolt. I used to hunt with a guy that loved them and he would use a light coat of petroleum jelly on each round when he loaded a magazine. I swapped my 742s off for no particular reason just moved on.

Not ammo sensitive at all. It just ran. Surprised me to find one that did run.

I'm a buyer when you let it go cheap
