A while back, I posted a wanted ad and asked if anyone had any large wooden spools to give away.

Thanks to @Gazengine and @Infamous1, I ended up getting 11 large spools!

Here are some pics of my progress building a goat playground.

Here's what I know about Goats.....Anywhere you see a goat, it's because he want s to Be there. The minute he decides to leave, he'll be gone. I have seen farm goats Walk a 1 by 4 board fence!!! Those are beautiful...keep them fed and entertained and they'll stay at home.
That goes for "all" the goats in the goat park!!!!

Won't the goats run off into the woods, or is there fence in there too?
They're cute, btw. The humans as well.....:)
I've got 8 acres fenced in. 2 acres is pasture. 6 acres is wooded.

I'm looking for a donkey, but don't have one yet. I have had no coyote problems yet.
That’s the operative word ... they will find you very soon ... a gloat bleat will draw them in real quick. Then the kids will be even more of an attraction ... be on the lookout for signs. Yotes will even attack livestock when it’s still light out ... pre-dusk like.

I doubt you can find one local and you’d have to wait for him/her to mature but my next dog is going to be a Anatolian Shepherd ... I dare yotes to show up.

I like my goat on pita bread with Tzatziki Sauce, onions, tomatoes and a bit of lettuce. :);)

Add some spicy banana peppers & a sprinkle of good paprika & I'm right there with you. My favorite is on pita bread with hummus & African peri-peri chili sauce.

Ya need to build one of these just for the fun of it. Saw this in Memphis:

YES! That sounds good!

Lebanese restaurants were a Godsend during my trips to Africa. Lebanese food & that hot sauce are among my very few fond memories of that place.

Can't forget doener kebaps (Turkish gyro). Those were a staple of my diet in Germany. Local Kurdish joint had a line 2 blocks long on weekend nights.

ETA- I wonder how goat jerky would turn out. Hmmm.

I had a lot of goat when I was in Greece in 93. Is was the first time I actually had it. I really like it.

I would like to try it in Lebanese food! That sounds really good

My girls love that spool teeter totter I made for the goats. They play on it more than the goats do...

I had one spool left over, so I decided to bring it up to the house and put it in the front yard.

I just finished it, and the kids haven't seen it yet. This one is reinforced with an additional board and I added handles made of threaded galvanized pipe!

I see people with goats now like people with dogs, are they replacing them?

What are goats for?

I grew up in a small farm in Alabama. We had goats, horses, donkey, dogs, chickens, etc...

After having kids, I wanted my children to grow up outside of town, with a pasture, and animals.

For me, they are my daughters' friends. They spend at least an hour each day running and playing with the goats, talking to them, petting them. My girls are only 8yo and 6yo, but they have already seen birth and death. Happiness and sadness...

We spend a lot of time talking about the cycle of life. My girls have chores that they happily do. They love to feed the goats and sweep the crap out of their "goat house".

For me, goats are a lot of things, but mainly a way to spend time with my children and teach them to love and respect living things. While we don't plan to eat the goats, we do eat chicken eggs, chickens, and turkeys that we have raised.

That's not all, but all I can think of on the spot right now.

Teach them young and they will be alot better off later in life. Great job Dad!!

You need any more spools? My brother remembered me asking about them when you were looking and said his warehouse guy just sent him this pic:

best I can tell is they’re Free, but in Goldsboro

I don't need any more. I'm happy with my setup, but there were other guys asking last year.

Hopefully they'll see your comment and PM you.

Thanks for letting us know!

That's just good ole fashion fun right there. Nice work!

Although, I did just do a Google search and saw some cool diy ideas... Shooting bench, bar height table, etc...View attachment 324504
I’ve had that shooting bench pic saved for quite awhile...and shared it many times. Just don’t have a shooting spot to keep one right now. ☹️

That's what a garage is for... Want something, but have anywhere to put it? Put it in the garage!

You don't really need to park cars in there. Fill em up with junk!
