Coming food crisis...

@thrillhill don’t they have some classes at the community college in Pittsboro on such things?

Off and on. My wife took it twice under 2 different instructors. It was a field study class and well worth it. It is through CCCC Pittsboro Campus. They don't offer it every semester.

My neighbor is taking chemo right now. Will that have an effect on taste of the meat?
When I was on chemo, I could smell it on my skin, coming out of every pore. It was awful!

I bet your neighbor would taste pretty bad with all that poison in every cell.....

On the other hand, some real spicy BBQ sauce couldn't hurt, I guess??

Edit: Hope neighbor is going to be ok.....

Some of my preps were stocking powder and primers which we all have done. I made sure to have bullet moulds for every rifle caliber I have on hand. I also have some old stand by powders that can be used for reduced loads in the rifles. Unique, Trail Boss, Red Dot and such. I have a Lyman manual for cast bullets in rifles loads so I have data I can look at. I have laid in the primers so I can make what I need when I need it.

So yes, you can shoot small animals with .30-06 and not have to pick the up with cotton swabs.

hmmm. How is it on a scale of flavorless yankee trash to old Southern lady in a bonnet cookin?
I have a lot of Augason Farms food. It’s pretty good stuff. The butter reconstitute like thin margarine spread, tastes very good. Better than nothing.

I really like their food. Theyhave so many single ingredient cans then anybody else. You can get a can of onions, butter, salt, potatoes etc.
I made some vegetable beef stew out of all of their ingredients last year. It was pretty darn good.

We bought an assortment of their small cans to sample. Everything we tried tasted fine. I wouldn't hesitate to buy their stuff if you're looking for long-term storage foods.

Freezer was delivered last week, finally. This morning picked up 240lbs of chicken from House of Raeford. The better half packed and stacked. Cost $237 for breast, thighs, drum sticks, wings, and tenders. Pretty reasonable price for sure. I haven’t seen breast bigger than these unless they were on a human.
