Ginsburg dead?

Yes he has already picked a possible female replacement form.either nc or sc can't remember which.
Allison Rushing of the 4th Circuit? If that’s her she’s a Wake Forest alumni and in VA now ...

could be
Amy Coney Barrett
She’d be great but I think her Catholic ties and abortion stand will make it tough. It was brought up in her 7th Circuit appointment but when it comes to the Big Leagues it will be a huge thing for many Dem Senators.

One of the few decisions she was on the correct side of involved a case out MA.
The MA SJC ruled in a taser case that the constitution only protected technology that existed at the time of the signing.
A rare unanimous SCOTUS slapped that down. Even far left wing of the court understood the danger of letting that stand.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no longer a filibuster of SC nominees.

Susan Collins has always been the wildcard R senator because she's from Maine and is well right of her constituents. To be reelected she has had to vote more liberal than her beliefs.

Susan is losing badly and likely to be out come Jan. She has nothing to lose.

Time for an originalist/textualist justice.

So what “professional courtesies” are owed to anyone on the left with regard to Trump appointing now, or holding off till after the election? Anything?

Oddly enough you will see the left jump on the “Biden rule.” That replacements in and election year should move to the new presidents. Even though they complained about it with Garland. Both sides have argued that since.

And I’ll give RBG this, she was one tough woman. Took 5 rounds with the big C to lose.

When the Senate was not the same party as the POTUS, the POTUS would not send a nominee to the Senate for SCOTUS. Since the Senate and White House is Republican, you can 100% guarantee Pres. Trump will move fast to replace RBG before the end of November. If the World Famous JV ex POTUS BHO had a Democratic Senate, Garland would be on the SCOTUS.
** Updated: McConnell has said that Pres. Trump nominee will get a vote on the floor. **

Trump now has Payback for Pelosi and her Solemn Impeachment Fiasco.

I can't help but think this was part of the DNC playbook. Perfect timing for a distraction from Biden / Harris floundering helplessly. They are going to have petulant tantrums and stall and delay ANY nominee, no matter how qualified.

Now the narrative is going to shift from riots, COVID football humping, Dem ineptness and BLM stuff to, "We can't allow the Orange Man to put another misogynist racist evil Nazi puppet on the USSC!"

As much as I would love to see Cruz in a robe. I hope he nominates a woman this time. Of course they will parade out of the teenage pool boys she molested 20 years ago.

Scuttlebutt is that Cruz doesn’t want the job anyway.

I don’t believe we will get it through before election. Dems will go crazy and Republicans will back down.

if they lose the WH and the Senate majority what difference does it matter to run it thru in Late November?? Not a damn bit!

Cruz declined the position on Wednesday. There's a huge email campaign here to ask him to reconsider.

I didn’t say I cared. Remember that the Republicans had the WH, House and Senate and there were still a ton of Republicans (never Trumpers) who would not do a dang thing that Trump wanted. Some actually had voted for Hillary.

I know and IF Biden wins HRC or BO will be on the court

I know Trump and the Senate Judicial Committee could push thru a nom before the election but your point makes for good discussion on really pushing quick ... but what about Tillis trailing Cunningham here in NC and the ND Senate seat how would a push affect these 2 races?

Side question ...how the hell is Cunningham leading Tillis (even though Tillis sucks too)?

That should not be a problem since the court has been 5 Roman Catholics, 3 Jewish, and an Episcopalian (raised Roman Catholic).

Hillary is too old to nominate to the court. In a few years she'll be circling the drain. Obama maybe but no way they nominate Hillary

She will likely vote for it AFTER her election irregardless of win or lose

Collins, Murkowski, Graham and Grassley all have said no to voting before the election. They all are up for re election too I think which means They want to keep their race chances alive as “fair” senators
