I took the 1187 'Police' model to the range today for some buck and ball shooting. The 20" barrel has rifle sights and removable chokes. I routinely keep a modified choke in it so when I tried some Federal slugs in it, I left the modified choke in place.

This was 5 rounds from about 50 yards standing unsupported. next I put the rifled choke in the barrel and the next five rounds about tripled the group, with 2 going off the paper completely.

It could have been me but I think that the Federal slug which I assume is the old time non sabot slug was happier in the smooth bore modified choke barrel!

You may find it even happier in IC. But what you got there is pretty good. I have the same barrel for my 11-87 and one of my 870s. I keep the IC in and run Federal LE12700 buck and either Brenneke or Tru Ball slugs.

I thought,"Wow, Cerebrus made a shotgun with a rotating bolt, I gotta see this."

Nice grouping!
