list the essential 80's and 90's movies

I don't want to duplicate so for now I will just add "Pump Up The Volume". Honestly one of my favorite coming of age movies, and it was right on the border since it came out in 1990.

Since you included the decade of the '90's, I'll recommend "The 13th Warrior", which just squeaks in by being released in 1999.

I've been wanting to watch it again ever since @SnowRooster posted his Viking music thread.

One of the most kick-ass hero scenes ever. Their king, sick and dying, dragging his sword for the last stand. The few warriors left standing ready to defend their people to the death, watching the enemy cavalry breach their defenses.

IT GETS ME PUMPED!!!

Here are several that haven't been mentioned from the 1980s.

Heavy Metal (1981)
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
Ladyhawke (1985)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Airplane! (1980)
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)
The Money Pit (1986)
The Last Emperor (1987)
Crimes of Passion (1984)
Sea of Love (1989)
9-1/2 Weeks (1986)

PS I did notice belatedly that @Ferrisfan cited a few of these in #28

I haven't seen Aliens mentioned.

Alien misses the cutoff slightly as I believe it was a 1979 release.

And we are just gonna pretend Alien 3 never happened....

I hate that movie.

Not the movie itself as it's a great film and has a kick ass sound track.

I hate it solely because I went on a date with a girl to go see it. Realized during said date that she was clinically bipolar. Determined to never see her again and ended up being stalked by her for about 18 mos. Fun times...

Sorry, but this franchise will have to be renamed to be in compliance with Biden-Harris) administration policy: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/hamedaleaziz/illegal-alien-uscis-biden-term

Department of Homeland Security officials have been directed to stop using words such as “alien” and “illegal alien” from communications with the public or within the agency when referring to people who aren’t US citizens in an effort by the Biden administration to recast immigration terminology.

So "Noncitizen" or "Alternatively Documented" could be appropriate for a more inclusive film.

Ok , I've scrolled through 2 pages and read titles of a boatload of good movies. Disappointed that I did not see one of my all time favorites , " Mars Attacks". Loaded with big name stars laugh your ass off movie. Or maybe my sense of humor is warped.

Some of these are awesome, classics. Some were better books than movies.

Operation Dumbo Drop is a lot of fun; based on a true story no less.

Funny as hell. A lot of stars and great cameos. I love the Tom Jones scene when the aliens are singing..."ack-ack-ack...."

I try to watch it twice a year and usually ack-ack-ack for several days afterwards.
