What Did You Do In The Garage Today?

Well I discovered an issue the previous home owner left me with.

I just finished the garage just to rip a drywall corner of it out. When doing so I can see where the previous owner had patched it.

The issue is is the corner of my garage has water seeping in from the mortar on the outside. It’s been doing it for sometime because the furring stripes are pretty wet. I masked and gloves up to remove the wet drywall. I put a dehumidifier in the garage. Sprayed the black mold with straight bleach a few times and let it sit. No other area is compromised.

Here’s pic before the flooring went down. This is what made me caulk the outside but I’m wondering if I just redirected the water when I did.

So I’ll need to have someone out to remortar the corner. Replace the furring strips and wood. Possible dig down 10 ft inside my garden to reapply moisture barrier that may be compromised. The cinderblock appears wet/moist from the compromised wall outside.
 
I had a shipping container delivered out to our property and started working on a solar power system for it. I'm doing a Renogy 200w system with a couple of 95 Ah batteries on it. I used my new welder to rig up this frame for my first two panels. It uses one full stick of 1" square tube and a short section of 1/8"x1" flat bar. I'll sling this on the roof of the container after I get charging rack all sorted out.

Installed six new Bosch Fusion Spark Plugs 4516 in my '99 Taurus, I had the previous set in there for 110K miles. All looked normal for their age. Better in the driveway then on the highway!
 
I maintain about 80 acres of hunting property that an older friend of mine owns. He has a large 4wd 75hp MF with all the attachments you can think of but this bushhog get the most use. It’s the oldest (read cheapest) and lives a rough life because of it. Wel it was finally my turn to break it, and I decided to bring it home and undo years of patchwork repairs and beef this thing up tremendously. Here’s the “befores”. Its been more useful than I could’ve hoped for when we built it.
 
New blades, air filter, and spark plug on the Honda push mower. Skipped changing the oil this year because it is still amber and hasn't needed any.

I bought it 5 years ago on Craigslist for $60, just needed a cable for the blade clutch. I think I am a fan of Honda's small motors for life.

(He’s getting it painted. Just didn’t want 30lbs of bondo in those dents. looks good, now you can come out here and set up shop as a hail dent repairman. you'll always have plenty of work, trust me
 
Helped a coworker diagnose headlights not working that sounded like a grounding issue. Turns out they were aftermarket LEDs that had a heatsink with a fan on the back. Looked like some ebay crap. Put in halogen bulbs and cleaned up the ground on the motor. He was good to go.

Then worked on the old rust bucket CJ. Got the battery tray out and all the nuts loose that hold the heater box except one stud that broke on me. Thinking about scrapping the stock setup for a heat and AC combo from Jeep Air.

It is a good thing you can almost build a CJ with all brand new parts because this one is not going to have many original parts left.

I was changing my engine oil and final drive oil on my bike today for a trip next week. I snapped the threads off of my final drive oil filler cap! Got one ordered from Amazon but don't know if it will fit. I'll find out tomorrow. If it doesn't work, I hope the Honda dealer has one in stock.
 
Workshop is finally cleaned up and I have a pile of stuff for sale now.
 
Not yet. I barely have time to get rid of the stuff I have listed but I have a ton of magazines, watches, holsters, spare parts, Tesla Charger, self defense ammo, maybe a rifle.
 
I had a water pump go out on one of my trucks. Sterling with a Mercedes engine. All my other trucks I can change out about an hour easy. This thing on the other hand you have to remove the top half of the front of the engine to get it of. Fan, clutch fan, parts of the EGR, all the bracing for the radiator and a bunch of hoses. And man is this thing huge and awkward.

Also putting the fan belt on is a 2 man job but I improvised.

@DCGallim you mention how huge and awkward it is, how big is it? Weight?
How long did it take to change (vs the others being an hour)?

Most are just as big as the bottom left section in that first pic. The Mack’s have 6 bolts holding them on this had 20. This took about 5 hours all together. If I had another to do tomorrow I could probably be down to 3.5 hours. Weight wise isn’t terrible until you’re sideways trying to line up bolt holes with little to no room to maneuver.

Not sure if you have the room to do it, I take three longer bolts and cut the heads off, thread them in place and then slide the pump or other item into place.
Install bolts and then swap out the line up bolts.
 
Well I got tired of waiting to build a shop so I decided to set up a wood working shop in the garage after some other projects made it feasible.

I also replaced the garage door that had been screwed to the wall after some previous owners removed the tracks and insulated the ceiling with some double opening French doors.AC80E922-9B9F-4B89-905F-ED9BDE7F718C.jpeg

Then it was time to start moving tools in. I went from an 800 foot shop at the last place to around 200' here so the tools all get mobile bases.

Then there was the issue of storage but I didn't want to put holes in the cinder block walls to hang cabinets so I built a single unit with 15 lower drawers and upper cabinets attached to the side panels.A5220F5E-9933-4EB0-9BC1-546FC7652E55.jpeg

Now I need some drawer faces and upper doors and to clean up the mess I've made and then I'll be ready to build something.

Sent the last two of those off to auction this week. Probably the most trouble free engines we've had, but when they did that german engineering was obvious.

After I sold my hot riffed dirt bike, it started making engine noise within 5 minutes :(
