I need a general purpose pair of shoes. I really only have two pair. A pair of Sperry topsiders (gift from my wife) and the steel toe shoes (gift from my employer). I mean yeah, I have boots I wear hunting and some flip flops, but I don't have a pair of shoes. Around the house and yard, I'm usually barefoot and only put on shoes (Sperrys) when I leave the house.

I want something that I can wear to walk around the neighborhood, as well state park trails, etc. But, I also want something that I can still wear to an eating joint and not have people whispering.

Whatcha got?

I have had a few pairs for years. Use them for walking the gravel road at the cabin, walking trails, if it’s really shitty out and want something more than light running shoes, or it snows but not enough to need boots. Pretty much a very comfortable do all shoe. Jeans, shorts, doesn’t matter. I have an older pair with Gortex too. Plus they have held up really well. The Gortex pair is still in good shape except I’ve about worn the soles smooth. I find them more comfortable than Keens.

Have you grabbed a pair before? What did you like the most about them?
I am on my second pair of mids (the mid is more hiking boot height/style)...very comfortable, good support & stability, can wear with anything...they are my do everything shoe/boot, next to my jungles....just really comfortable.

I like Keen low-quarter Targhee or Braddock. Leather or leather/nylon, can wear them out, on on trails. I have not had success with Merrills; to me, they are too narrow. Try before you buy.

Depending on your foot and which fits best Merrell Moabs or Salomon Speedcross. I will warn you though going from Sperrys to either of those on a damp surface that has a tendency to be slippery is something to remember or you’ll be on your butt.

There are no less than 10 pair in "our" closet. I have 6 pair of the moab2 and tactical moab2 8 inch non zippered boot. I'll never buy anything different if I can help it.

I can get you a coupon for 25% off $125

I like Keens as well, Ive have four pairs and like them a lot. I use orthotics and they fit in these shoes.

Nobody’s mentioned the brand yet, but I like sketchers. Pretty affordable shoes and they have tennis shoes work shoes work boots etc. you might want to check them out. I have a pair of steel toe Tennis shoes of theirs that I wear to work. Love them.

You'll never regret Keens!

I wear a hiking sandals, a pair lasts about 1-2 years wearing them everyday.

I think they were about $110.00 - 125.00 and worth every dime.

I’ve had Merrells that were great and I’ve had them fall apart after a couple days. I’ve had Keens that were great and I’ve had them fall apart after a couple days. I’ve got a pair of Colombia’s now that I really like. I do wear a size 15 so I tend to not be picky and take what I can find.

Hard to recommend a shoe as feet and shoes run different. I like a wide roomy toebox and no drop (heel).

I’ve had a half dozen pair of Merrel Moabs. I walk a lot and wear them out , plus I know they fit so I order on line now since no one keeps my size in stores (13 eeeeeeeee)

Because I don't own a Kimber?

No because you have two pairs of shoes that you didn't even buy and you run around barefoot.
Probably making spears in the back yard.

Go to REI and try on some different stuff. Then go buy it somewhere else for cheaper.

Your problem is definitely the size. They have two oriental girls working on opposite sides of your shoe and they can't see what the other is doing. Probably slips by QC, too.

I do have a pair of Sanuks that my daughter gave me, but they only lasted about three years.

Merril or Keen as recomended several times. I also wear three different pairs of Crocs in different camo patterns.

I used to buy Merril shoes from a Simon Premium Outlet when they went on clearance at end of season. Good way to find shoes for 40% off.
I've only had one pair of Keens, but I did like them until sombody at work dumped broken glass all over my feet. I took them off and threw them away. It's a shame because they did seem to be of better quality than the Merrils.

Merrells have been pretty good. They have some dressier styles rather than the std low/high top hiking shoes. Take another
look at TopSiders too, lots of styles. I've worn them for 50+ years, IMHO one of the best made. 3 eye billfish is a great all around shoe

I like Johnston and Murphy shoes. I found their outlet over in Alamance County at the outlet mall over there about 3 years ago. I havent worn another name brand since then. I buy from the clearance rack and save a ton. They have pricing tiers from $100 up to $2000 for the handmade stuff.
