As predicted Cooper announced "phase 3" in time for boost before election

Pooper thinks he can get a boost in the polls by going to phase 3 code to the election with enough time for some economic rise.
I hope the voters are not dumb enough to give him a 2nd term.

I would hope that would be the case, but I work with a lot of people who hold him as the shining star on leading a statewide pandemic response, one who should be emulated. I loathed him before the pandemic; since March, I can't even begin to describe my hatred.

He has a decent lead over Forrest already ... while I don’t buy into all polls and hope the 80 or so non-mega counties like Wake, Meck, Durham, etc will crush that poll ... Stooper is going to start his “I did this great C-19 response ...” BS and “Phase 3 is because of my swift and great leadership ...”. I just hope all the bar and gym patrons and owners (along with other small businesses) remember his crap when they vote!

ETA ... he ain’t cutting the statewide MASK thing though ... that would undermine Biden and Dims can have that.

The only people that still support him are those who didn't lose a job or a business because of his dictatorial actions.

He's got to go.
Tillis got to go.
All the worthless folks got to go

PITA has to go. There's been enough pain.

He's got to go.
Tillis got to go...

Agree that both must go but, Cunningham is extremely dangerous. I will hold my nose and vote Tillis just to keep that socialist, gun grabber out. Hopefully someone with conviction and stamina will oppose Tillis next time around.

He is also one inch short of stolen valor with his Bronze Star ... eluding to “combat experience” he leads people to think he’s a hero when in fact he was awarded the “tin version” for his service in an air conditioned courtroom ... nowhere near the battlefield!

Yes, but the voting base does not want to research and learn that. He's the "D" candidate and that is all they care about.

Confession time: I am registered "unaffiliated" and as such, chose "D" ballot in primaries. I voted the most obscure and low profile candidate in every race just to take a vote away from the frontrunner. Did it make a difference? No! I made me feel better (sort of).

I do the same down here in SC.

Nope the Dims do not know or care ... however the MSM knows and chooses to not question/report it ... damn liberal leftist WRAL and their likes are complicit in it just like the REMF’s that submitted him for it.

As to your voting style ... I too am an “unaffiliated” and voted in the Dim primary for Bernie both times (‘16 & ‘20) trying to do the same thing ... plus most NC local races (like sheriff or county commissioners) are settled in the primary so it makes even more sense. And like you it didn’t do a hells bit of good.

All the previous elections were just too important. You must hold your nose and vote for the milquetoast, sleazy RINO, because the election was just too important. Forget that voting for something gets you more or something, because that election was just too important.

Now you’ve got one that really is important. Tillis was vulnerable last time. This time I get the feeling he’s even more so. Cooper, well Forrest is either love him (those that listen to (right wing) talk media, or Who?? Never heard of him.

I posted before on here with this, but I'll say it again
You dont like someone - why reward them with your vote? You think he'll change this time? lol

How much did Tillis do to help gun rights? What did he do that you didnt like?

Yes Maam. Nailed it.

We needed every R we had to confirm Kavenaugh. This next one will be confirmed by 1-2 votes. The most important vote to occur in any session is the first one, where they elect leadership, and that always goes to the majority party. Because McConnell was leading the Senate in 2016, Obama didn't get a third appointment. Because McConnel's in charge this time, we're going to get a vote on the next one and it will probably succeed. Clarence Thomas has gone on record saying he wants the Court to take on a significant gun case. But now that Roberts has gone limp we need to hold it until we get one more reliable conservative. And we will not get that if Chuck Schumer is running the Senate.

Tillis is loved by no one. But if you want to get rid of him, do it in the Spring, in the primary elections. Or wait until the Senate has enough R's you can afford to lose the RINO. But right now, Tillis is useful only because we need that (R) beside his name.

And so, @HMP , that's what Tillis has done for gun rights.

You reward them only for having an R beside there name and the fact that if he hasn't done anything to hurt you its better than having someone in there that you damn well know will hurt you just because he has a D beside his name.

So, I saw the thread title and thought he had announced we are going to Phase 3. The only article I could find on this said he announced we would go to Phase 3 in October if case numbers remain stable. If this is correct, then he hasn’t really done anything, other than offer a hypothetical carrot.

I very reluctantly accept the dreaded "lesser of two evils" argument in this specific case, for reasons far bigger than my personal opinion that TT is the quintessential RINO.

I didn't lose my job, but that mask I'm wearing has got to go just like Cooper. I have "rubbed" elbows with the public most every day since this crap started. My brother and his family have had the bat flu and they made it through fine. I'm overweight, type 2 diabetic,.and 58 years old. If I was going to catch it, I would have by now. Diseases kill. I know that. So do drunk drivers and a host of other things. If you think you're getting out of here alive I have some sad news for you. Only reason I wear the mask and gloves is my company mandate. If not for that, I'm taking it off. I shop at places where the mask Nazi's don't give a rip. Rant off.

Remember, vote, and not for Roy.

It reminds me of 2008 and 12 (and the years between 08 and 16)
People talked of Obama and how he'd take guns away. Multiple mass shootings and we're still here. All he took away, and please correct me if Im wrong, was the banning of one type (caliber?) of ammo for importation.
We can keep voting the guy we know is worthless and keep him doing the same thing because he keeps getting reelected, or we can vote for anyone else.
It isnt that I like Cal, but I KNOW that TT is a bag of crap

I thank you for making reference to this.

I have wondered about this Bronze Star in officers with a direct commission issue for a long time. My background: I never served a day in uniform (but all my family before me have served...guess I'm the original snowflake...).

Nevertheless, I've always been fascinated by military history and I have had the opportunity/hobby to tour battlefields all over the US and Europe. If I could restart life's clock, I'd like to be a military history professor. That said, I'm extremely fortunate in my job to be able to talk to military veterans ranging from combat generals to buck privates and I'm humbled to be in the presence of them all.

But I've noticed this phenomenon over the years: A LOT of politicians seemed to have had direct commissions-particularly lawyers who served in the JAG corps--and have these Bronze Stars on their record. I realize this represents meritorious service in noncombat (and very essential) roles in the military. However, I'm also aware from history that some politicians seem to tout these awards with a lot of enthusiasm (as opposed to the many decorated vets I've known who went through the hell of combat without EVER acknowledging their decorations from combat valor--I've personally met many with Bronze Stars with a V device, Silver Stars, Navy Cross, etc., as well as one MOH recipient).

Most, if not all, vets with combat service won't open up about their experience unless you do them the favor of expressing some familiarity with what they were exposed to (I never say something like "Oh, you served in Vietnam? That's nice..." I try to open up the conversation with statements like, "Sir, I see you were in Hue during the Tet Offensive in 1968, and you have a combat infantry badge on your hat. What an amazing victory that was never properly presented in the Media. What was it like fighting in the Old City?" Then the veteran will slowly open up about his experiences...even then they usually say something nondescript like "well, the food really sucked" or "my gas mask smelled like shit and it was a real pain in the ass putting hot rubber on your face in 130 degree weather..." and later you find out from family that they were wounded saving their platoon or something similar.

On the other hand, it seems every time I see a Cunningham ad, out comes the prominent display of the Bronze Star. It harkens to Lyndon Johnson's "combat medals"--awarded under controversy--in some ways. I have no real place to question his service, since as I've said, I'm the original snowflake. But I am curious about the opinions of the real veterans on this forum regarding the Bronze Star phenomenon in rear echelon officers.

So for those vets on this forum, can someone explain to me why I see so many Bronze Stars awarded for service in the JAG corps? What types of lawyerly service earn this recognition? My feeling is that Cal walking around like Audie Murphy with his Bronze Star wouldn't earn much other than stony silence from airborne troops, those in a VFW, still hospitalized in Walter Reed, or other places. Thanks in advance for commenting...

Short version: there are two variants of Bronze Star, because: military bureaucracy. "With valor" was earned. Otherwise, it's a "perfumed prince" participation trophy. Words cannot express my contempt for the latter.

[Footnote: my Dad received one for his actions on Omaha Beach. So I am a bit biased.]

My dad got the bronze for valor, when the planes he worked on (he was a crew chief) were bombed on the air field with pilots in them. He was the one of the first to rush in and start getting them out of the flames.

BS were given out like Halloween candy to REMF officers who NEVER left the FOBs! These dime store/PX warriors wear them with pride and to me, that cheapens the award. But what do I know? I was only a 30 year Senior NCO.

You’d cut it off for spite? I absolutely cannot stand Tillis, but I hate the Democrats worse! Jus my .02!
Cool, do what you think is right.
Not me though. No way Im voting Tillis.
Rs need a wake up call that we will not accept a useless candidate. I refuse to vote for someone simply because of a letter beside of their name.
But you do you brother.

This started in OIF 1 in 03. They were giving them out then to REMFs. If you were E-6 and up, you got one. The process just expanded from there. You just wrote it up and other REMFs signed off on it, whereas anything worthwhile was downgraded by the same folks who never left the wire. Same with Purple Hearts. It's disgusting.
