So..Do I need a Sig P229 40SW?

Of course I do. Unlike reasonably priced 9mm versions, P229 40SW are all over Gunbroker as 'police trade-ins'. All around the $500-$550 range. Ive tried to keep to 2 calibers (45ACP and 9MM) but I love the P229 platform and these 40SW look tempting.

Quick question(s):
1. Given todays BS gun/ammo shortage, is $550ish a good price?
2. How much average wear/tear can I expect from a police turn in?
 
Its a fair price in todays market before this mad rush they were in the 450-500 range from what I have seen.

That was my first sig. Wonderful shooter. Durable. Great gun. $550 is a "decent" price. Nothing special. Mine was not a police trade in, which could mean anything from the guy qualified with it once a year to all the action is slop from being fired so many times. If the latter...., its just getting broke in! lol
 
I believe the P229 was designed around the .40 (and .357, of course), so I doubt you can go wrong. If I were to get back into .40 it'd be with either this or the USP more than likely.
 
Nice pistol, I own one too, police trade not red box, added the .357 Sig barrel, great to shoot.
 
I picked up a few of the Red Boxes earlier in the year. All you need is the barrell for the .357 sig and you can shoot it as well. Same spring and slide.
 
My 229 was a pre-owned blue label from Sig and refurbished plus it came with a 357 Sig barrel also brand new I think I paid $500 for it about 10 years ago One of the best guns I own and a damn good shooter I actually have never shot the 40 barrel only the 357 Sig
