Stupid shoe question

Because I'm spendin my own money on these, the brand needs to have the ability to stay on my feet if I get hit by a car.

Can't have someone running off with my shoes while I'm being carted off to the hospital.

sounds like you just need socks.

I’ll go a different direction.

I do a lot of walking – neighborhood, community parks, State Parks, Historic sites, etc. I have discovered two criteria for me for happy feet while doing this: 1) something breathable (no waterproofing) because my feet get uncomfortably hot while walking, and; 2) something with a wide toe box, so I don’t feel like I’ve been trying to hike in a pair of stilettos (oops, TMI or maybe wrong forum – Mods please move if so…).

I happened upon a pair of Altras. https://www.altrarunning.com/shop/men/mens-timp-2-al0a4pe9?variationId=000#hero=2
Shop around - better prices are available.

I love everything about them and have been especially pleased with the tread. The grip is amazing and they don’t retain mud. I did some work in the mountains this past Spring and was able to go up and down steep slopes with great traction and confidence. Made this 62-year-old look almost athletic, LOL!

At any rate, I recommend the Altra Timp. But there may be other models that you like better. They offer color combos that appeal to the younger folks, but there are some more conservative colors as well that won’t have people pointing at me when trying to eat. Well, at least not pointing at me because of my shoes…

Hope this helps a bit and happy trails to you!

I have the Altra Lone Peak 4.0.

I noticed the grip right away. Serious grip! Love them so far.

I like keens myself, have a few pair.

Find what feels good on your feet, and youll be ok. Remember, like anything else...good stuff costs money..i.e. buy once cry once.

My Merrels have worn through at the top of the heel & the thin plastic is digging in.
What’s the best thinner sole, tough Solomon sneaker/tennis shoe?
I looked at their website and there’s way too many choices.

are you asking what the best Salomon option is?

I have several pair and these have been my favorites. I love the speed lace system and most of the time I don’t even tighten it, just slip them on and they stay pretty well.
