Crush washer or not

When installing a quick disconnect mount on an AR, would you use a crush washer?

NO you need shims to index it if you want it to clock in a particular orientation. Using a crush may cause baffle strikes. Also use rockset to hold it on.

tod0987 that is what I was thinking about baffle strikes. Not sure what rockset is.

I’ve used hi temp red loctite with all my brakes/flash hider suppressor mounts

but like @tod0987 Said, dont use crush washers!


@KnotRight its a strong thread locker that is water soluble and very heat/torque resistant

It's @tod0987 FTW on both crush washer and Rockset.

I’ve never used any thread locker on a QD mount.

I did put some anti-seize on the threads.

I wouldn't even do peel washers. shims are only a couple dollars and one set is likely to work for multiple uses. You look at the number of degrees off you are and pick the right shim, torque to 20ish and you're done.
Sure, you may have a little silver band between your black barrel and black mount, but it's a small price to pay.

its cheap insurance to avoid the PITA of a mount unscrewing from the barrel inside a can. The internet is full of examples of just that with pretty much every suppressor make and model out there.
