You would think they could hire better for the sporing goods desk at Walmart

A minimum wage clerk at a big box store didn't know the ins and outs of the product? Shocking.

I'd have just said, ".45 ACP and 45 Auto are the same thing, what's the price?" There's no benefit in getting worked up over little things.

We don't get mad when the kid stocking the veggies isn't a classically trained chef, right?
I wasn't worked up. Once he said the price I just turned around and walked. I know there are much better prices elsewhere.

I bought a 1911 last month and am still breaking it in, so while I was at Walmart the other day I stopped by the ammo counter. I am having a hard time making out what the price labels across the way from me are listed at. The price is big enough but they use a small print on what the item is. So, I asked the clerk how much does a box of .45 ACP cost. The guy looks at me and says we don't have 45 ACP, but we do got 45 Auto for $20 a box. I am thinking WTH? Needless to say I went to a real LGS and bought in bulk today at a much better price.
Isn't he technically correct?

Our WM is very country. It's not like the WM's in the suburbs where most of the customers are like regular people. We're in a mostly country/hillbilly area and the folks you see in the place make for 5 star people-watchin'.
We have a friend in from out of town (Germany) and had planned to take him to the local car show last night. Well the weather didn't cooperate and the car show was canceled. I suggested as a "Plan B" that we take him to Walmart. With the people that are there most weekend evenings, you could incorrectly assume the circus was in town. Cheap entertainment.

I've always said that if you have a guest from a different country and want to show them 'America'....take em to Wal Mart.

Its just somebody needing a job
Much like when you go to the autoparts store, dont be surprised when they arent gearheads behind the counter etc.

This sort of 'problem' isnt limited to Walmart, the auto parts store, or any particular business.

I'm just impressed your Walmart actually had someone at the counter...in pretty sure my Walmart is staffed by about 4 people, two of which are always on break, one who is in the bathroom, and the other wandering around the parking lot.

Except that there's usually other hamburger joints to buy stuff at in a given town.

My wife would kill me if I got into making ammo on my own. All that startup cost to get into it. I would need a more suitable man cave as well to do it in. lol
My wife BOUGHT my reloading startup equipment. I still have it and still use it to load all my ammo.

The one thing you must understand: If you roll your own, there is never an ammo shortage.

I cast my own bullets because my local gun shop would never order me cast bullets. That shop and his sons shop has closed it's doors. Wonder why?

Factory ammo is just something to shoot. Rolling your own takes shooting to.a new level.bdbf9c271689ecf1c22ced867b9394b2.jpgThis was shot out of a AR15.

If you want something cheap and can work out if what they will work for you- go to walmart.

If you ok with paying more and need someone with a idea of what they are selling- go somewhere else.

Buy at Walmart is like buy online, you just get it the same day

Man ain't that the truth!
Me & my buddy have just about given up on employees, and have taken to doing everything ourselves.
And we'll teach you a trade that is only becoming more valuable, not back-breaking, and you can get a job no matter where you are. Can't get anyone to commit and we're super cool to work for.
Sometimes I'll get testy when I have to deal with lousy service. But it doesn't last long when I remember that they're dealing with the same employee pool that I am.

And this is why my business only has four employees. My wife who is the office manager and me, myself and I who take care of everything else. She's great on the phones and scheduling (gets compliments all the time) and we do all the technical work. That way, if somethings not done correctly, I know who to fire. I've fired myself a couple times but he keeps showing back up for work.

It's not just the sporting goods department. I went to the deli counter the other day and asked for 6 ounces of pastrami. This totally confused the employee because the scale read in pounds and decimal pounds, not pounds and ounces. "Is that half a pound?" she asked.
"No," I said. "It is three-eighths of a pound."
"That's point seven five?"
"No," I said. "It's point three seven five."
"Oh, one third?"
I looked at what she had sliced and told her it was close enough. Thank God I didn't have to pay at the counter... watching her try to make change would have been more than I could take.

Let me know how that reloading your rimfire ammo is going esp at .05/rd. Unfortunately the 3 box strict limit is still in effect and they has the monkeys trained on THAT policy pretty damn well. That's why Academy gets most of my store bought ammo biz lately

Aw, damn. They give security clearances to CFF members now? Wow, guess we really do need to review the process.
Had mine redone the year before I retired, that's been 4 years ago so I guess I don't have it anymore as they're only good for 5 years.
