Haven't followed any preseason, but Pats look like they're picking up where they left off. Is anyone in the AFC good enough to really challenge them? Steelers maybe?

They're losing at the moment to KC

Yeah, I may have spoken too soon.

But c'mon, this is the Patriots. Their opponents usually find ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And nobody takes better advantage of an opponent's screw-ups like the Pats.

That said, a loss at home to start the season would be big letdown for NE.

That is true...

Players seem to be dropping like flies too.

Not good for the champs, but they can never be written off as long as Brady and Belichik are still around.

They did look sloppy, though.

Meh, both are good teams, and they will both regress to the mean. I would not count NE out of the playoffs; nor would I consider KC to be an underdog any longer.

Im glad its football season again.
Go Panthers!

I say if you are watching the NFL, you should go ahead and take a knee.
Frankly y'all I don't give a damn. Losers,every damn one of them..
Ah, the well worn internet forum practice of posting in threads about subjects you allegedly have no interest in. Gonna be a long season for you guys if you have auto-subscribe turned on. ;)

Frankly y'all I don't give a damn. Losers,every damn one of them..
Yep, those damn losers who donate so much time and money to charities and people in need. LOSERS.
Those dang losers who make tens of millions of dollars each year in salaries, endorsement deals, and other promotions. LOSER.
Those dang losers who (gosh, who was the poster that has the info on crime stats that's posted it before???) statistically break fewer laws than the average American citizen. LOSERS.

Last night I did a marathon binge of Hard Knocks on HBO. Such a good show and I recommend it to all football fans, even if its not your team (I dont care much for the Bucs, but its a great show!)

Alright guys, the coach has something to say, so gather around, huddle up and take a knee....Well on second thought just gather around and huddle up.

Like I said.

Since I haven't followed preseason, I only found out today that Brock Osweiller was cut by the Browns (who got him from Houston), and is back with the Broncos, who got him at a cheap price, especially compared to the massive contract he passed up for an even more massive contract in Houston.

And Beast Mode is now wearing the silver & black.

And RG3 is man without a team after the Browns released him back in March. I'm thinking if he hasn't been picked up by now, he's not going to get picked up unless there are a lot of injuries at QB that has teams looking for #2 or #3 QB's.

JJ Watt's little brother, TJ Watt is no joke. And he's on a great team to be playing defense for - Pittsburgh.

Yesterday wasn't the best day to talk about Pittsburgh's vaunted defense. They came a play away from losing to the Browns.

That said, I don't put a lot of stock into assigning meaning to any season game 1's. Jacksonville looked great, Pittsburgh and Atlanta looked very unsteady, the Pats lost in spectacular fashion...

I was a fan years ago and lost interest in it. Now that I have a 7 year old that all by himself is a sports fanatic and amateur statistician I find myself wrapped up in his enthusiasm.

Yesterday's games were pretty good and the Panthers game was really good.

So were the Clemson game Saturday and a couple of others.

I'll watch football before I will NASCAR but SCCA racing and old TV shows like Home Improvement, boy meets world, etc will take priority over those.

But I watch the panthers game yesterday and they looked pretty good. The 49ers looked like crap

I kinda burned out on the NFL, and Kaepernick's actions helped. I still love some Clemson football (my oldest son is a junior there this year). Interestingly though, while trying to watch the Panther's Sunday, I learned SF has only 16 players remaining from last years roster. I did cringe everytime they said "Levi's stadium" on the air.

Broncos 2-0

Just sayin'...

I've been pretty impressed with Siemian

The NFL should be in panic mode right now. Every day, there is a new article about how their ratings are dropping and some excuse about why their stadiums are not full. This Kaepernick thing happened at the worst time for them- when they were already losing their audience to cord-cutting, millennials who were raised to think that football is a violent and too-masculine sport, and people that were struggling to pay the bills- not to mention paying extra to watch their broadcasts.

When I lived in Indianapolis (we moved back to NC 7 years ago), I was a huge Colts fan and even considered paying for the NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV, but it was so expensive, I just couldn't justify the cost. But, this year they offered it for free, in the hopes that I'll pay for it next year. I won't, but they don't know that. Even with having every game at my fingertips, I still haven't watched a whole game yet (I flipped a little bit last Sunday, but didn't find anything I cared about enough to watch).

I think a lot of fans are like me, in that I like football, but I really don't want to support a bunch of overpaid children complain about a job that most of us would kill for the chance to do (unfortunately, there's not a lot of demand for 5'9" out-of-shape linemen). They're living a dream life and they want to tell us how hard it is to get ahead in life. As much as I like football, I don't feel the need to spend three hours watching people that publicly say that they hate me and everything I stand for.

Every Sunday, I have list of things to do: go to church (so half the day is gone already), watch football, do the chores around the yard and house that I didn't get done on Saturday, work on woodworking projects that I need to finish, work in my office to prepare for the week, etc. While football is still on my to-do list, it has move down considerably in rank.

The NFL is making a huge mistake in embracing the "I hate America" crowd. I think there are a lot more of us than them. And I believe that most Americans love this country and, while we don't always agree with the political stuff going on, we really believe in what the USA stands for and that this is the greatest place on earth. Plus, this demographic represents a large portion of the people that work and pay taxes and might have a little bit left over for activities like watching football. If NFL wants to piss off this group (which they are doing), then a large percentage of the their audience is never coming back.

It's not just the NFL; most networks' sports programming is seeing a decrease (thinking ESPN and their affiliates). I am sure their political-social commentary has a lot to do with it.

Most teams are not having a problem with filling seats, though. There are a handful of teams who are having problems, and it's hard to say if it's because of the social activism or because they suck; probably, a combination of both.

It's WAY too premature to see a decrease in viewership and ratings as equating a response to what's going on with the NFL; there have been a couple studies that have shown that fans (as opposed to casual viewers) are going to alternate means to follow their teams and the sports (websites, social media, etc.), so the numbers of people calling themselves fans of the sports aren't abandoning football.

Who said they hate you?
Who is in this 'I hate America' crowd?

The NFL, MLB, hoops have become in many cities like the TV running in a sports bar with the sound turned off. Most everybody ignores it, it's like the people who exist in "Fehrenheit 451" with the TV screens constantly running in their houses just for the solace of those poor people who have noone else to talk to.

49ers-Rams tickets reselling for the price of two stadium pretzels: http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/49ers-Rams-tickets-cheapest-levis-stadium-history-12215863.php

Thursday night's Rams-49ers game may be the toughest sell in the history of Levi's Stadium.
As of Wednesday, resale tickets were being offered on StubHub for as low as $14 to see the team host the Los Angeles Rams at 7 p.m. That price is just cheaper than buying a pair of $7.50 pretzels through the Levi's Stadium app and comparable to the price of a beer and a hot dog at the the three-year-old arena. According to the team's seat licensing map, the cheapest original face value for any seat is $85.

as for me.....
the NFL has changed from a passion to a good TV show.

How bout them SKINSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think they could have blanked the Raiders had it not been for the field position gained by the turnover's.

Nope. Don't watch many games but I will not watch any now. Not after that that crap with not standing for flag and national anthem. Even my dad a hard core football fan is boycotting them. A sad day.....
