I am going to get crazy and jump into the world of plastic fantastic pistola's. I have shot a fair variety of glock, the m&p 1.0 and variety of xd's. I am looking for a midsize double stack( think g19ish). Starting from scratch which way would you go? And why?

If I were you, I'd cruise down to the end of 66 and buy the M&P 2.0 Compact 9 I have for sale.

:D

You're welcome to come down here and try it out.

About a week ago I would have said glock 19 absolutely....and then I got a 2.0 compact. They’re both great pistols but I think if years ago when I got my first pistol had the 2.0 been an option I would have gone that route. Honestly though, you can’t go wrong with either one.

Glock ftw. Nobody else has a factory 33rd reload available. And they don't loose value.

Mic drop...o_O

I have Rugers, Glocks, M&P's, a Walther and I've shot tons of XD's. (don't like XD safety's)
Looked and hard fondled recent stuff...CZP1o's, 2.0's, more Rugers..
The best shooter? The Walther PPQ.
But my favorite to carry, G23.
None of them are junk. They're all excellent firearms. It will most likely for you be the one that feels best in your hand. If you like that you'll shoot it well.

ETA- The H&K VP9 is another real nice one.

Personally I bought a glock, then 2 weeks later th mp 2.0c came out.... bought that and that's all I been carrying since. I will say glock of course has the strongest aftermarket and cheap mags etc. But i still prefer my 2.0c, shoots better for me and doesn't feel like a brick. Sig p320 is also a good choice too.

I love my old Glock 19, but the romance is over. They do lose value, and 33rnd mags in a pistol is fun at the range, but are impractical at best anywhere else.

I’ve liked what I have seen out of the CZ polymers, but see no great advantage of them over the steel counterparts like the P01 or the 75PCR.

So, in my biased opinion, if you are dead set on a polymer just get whichever one fits your hand and sends a shiver up your leg. At this point all of the major brands have gotten their stuff together and are putting out decent pistols.

If you are primarily looking for a carry weapon, I believe the G19 is the best all around because it has the least-intrusive dimensions relative to the capacity. That being said, the trigger sucks and if you do much range work you will eventually want to modify it. I also feel like the grip angle forces you to stick with Glock once you get used to it, because then trying to shoot any other pistol will feel like it doesn't point right.

Like many others have said, I have been with Glock for many years because at the time they were the best/only polymer striker fired option but in the last 10 years every other company has really stepped up their game and left Glock lacking (even with the Gen5 "upgrades"). If I were starting out fresh like you, I would rent or borrow every possible pistol I can and see what feels best in my hands and makes hits the most naturally for me.

There are a lot of options, as pointed out above. But between those two and only those two, I prefer Glock IF for no other reason than there are a billion after-market parts. I think the perfect CCW is a Glock 17 with a grip reduction.

I like the S&W, had a few that I shot just fine, but at the end of the day sold them to stay with Glock.

I have both the p10-c and g19 I shoot tighter groups with the cz . The cz has the best factory trigger I have ever pulled and the reset is sweet. But I my everyday carry is my g19

The glocks have always felt funny in my hand but i can shoot them ok. The m&p i had felt great in hand but i suot it poorly. I am willing to mod a trigger to get it right. Seems in my reasearch ( googling excessivly) the glock is fairly easy to swap in a fewnparts to get am acceptable trigger. The walther ppq is nice, but aftermarket is limited even for sights. And if you add in glock mags feeding possible future pcc, seems like glock is hard to beat.

Nobody mentions FN....smdh.

Finally, official confirmation that CZs are for "hipsters".

I was surprised this group doesn't favor revolvers. Why?

Whats the going rate on those? I always kinda discount them because i thought FN was usually high price.

Did some thinkin on this this morning...Here is the thing with Glocks. They are kinda like an old pair of blue jeans. The more worn in the get, the better they feel/look in my opinion. When people post gun pictures and I see pristine Glocks with all of the fancy work my mind is immediately reminded of people who spend $300 on a pair of jeans. Glocks are best when ridden hard and put up wet. When the holster wear starts to show and a few scratches and scrapes from a couple of rough training sessions starts to show through. Just like a pair of work jeans that have a few rips and tears in all of the right places (earned, not inflicted). You know the kind...the jeans with the worn spot where your dip/wallet goes.

Other polymer pistols may fall into this as well, but I have really only ever carried a Glock 19 with any regularity until recently.

Now, the CZ pistols that us fanboys have jumped on the band wagon with remind me more of casual Friday at work. I can wear khaki pants, and a polo shirt. Nothing too fancy, and I still feel comfortable and can do dirty work if necessary, but I am also ready for a nice dinner with the wife if necessary.

Thats kinda what i am going for. I am selling off a lot of my beretta stuff, not all, never all my italian goodness, so i can get a lighter, more modern working gun. I guess to use your analogy, i am looking for my "new" comfy old blue jeans so to speak. I generally dont like change and tend to just stick with what i know. Kinda why i was asking here. Lots of good input on this topic. Thanks to all.

Do the cz models come with gift certificates to your local non chain all inclusive fair trade organic coffe house? I feel like i would need to get a pumkin spice something to go with a new cz if got one.

No, they tried exactly that but it didn't do much to boost sales.

Now they mail you a coupon for free tofu at Whole Foods. :D

Funny, I was just watching this video that seems to speak a lot to this choice.

Not at all impressed by him, his ASP business. nor the Cobra Kai logo. Could not care less about the opinions of a conference of Buffet Bar Operators.

Over the last 20 yrs, these tactical "schools" have popped up like weeds, just like martial arts dojos did in the 1970's...For every 1000 of these there are perhaps, maybe 1-2 dozen worth a damn.

Completing one of these hokey courses that are designed to please the students, in order to gain more business, is as hollow as a chocolate Easter bunny.

It's both the new adult version of everybody gets a trophy no matter how much you suck and "Hey man! y-you'd better back off, I'm a black belt." Only now they cruise around with BS moto stickers all over their vehicles that scream, "Smash my windows and take my toys!" and preen about in their fashionably tactical attire, name dropping celeb instrs and courses, hoping like hell no one takes them to task.

This whole "Tactical School run by Celebrity Instructor/Guru" industry is just a business model built on ego, ambition, product placement/endorsements that depends public fear and students idol worshipping/sucking up to the self-anointed Celebrity Guru in the hopes that they'll get something out of it. I call bullshit on the vast majority of them.

I don't why the weak-assed public has to have:
Life coaches, personal trainers, nutritionists, tactical gurus, etc....
There is a large percentage of the population that can't even take a crap without expert guidance and approval/likes from other members of one of the several cliques to which they belong...

There are a few excellent Instructors out there, do exhaustive research on them, then spend your money wisely.
