Think about this. If you are forced to use your CCW gun to protect yourlife or the life of another person the handgun will be taken by the police and not returned to you for sometime.A lot can happen to it.For that reason I decided to start carrying a gun that won't hurt my feelings if it gets scratched or damaged. I would hate to have one of my Sig's or high end 1911's to be treated carelessly and damaged. Food for thought. Sorry to rant but it's said to inform you guys and gals of what could happen.
I've quite honestly never understood this view. In my opinion, this is a thought process that says volumes about where one is concerning preparedness and mindset.
Just how good can one's thinking be if having one's pistol taken into evidence takes precedence over EDC'ing the very best that you own. Just how much is your family's lives and your life worth versus a $1,500-$2,500 pistol?
So long as the shooting is justified and the good guys and/or innocent third parties are safe in the end, who gives a flip if the pistol is taken into evidence? If your shoot is bad, there again, who cares about the gun? Either way, that silly pistol is the least of your worries.
The SBI lab has, in the past, been in the hot seat due to their reckless handling of personal property, so much so, that they lost a bucket load of money in civil proceedings. Now days, things have been cleaned up and the property of the citizenry is much better handled and returned in a more appropriate time frame.
Don't make that bad day be your last, because you let childish materialism and other comparatively insignificant factors weigh into what could turn out to be the most important moments of one's life. The time is past to get a true grasp of the situation once that threat is entirely focused on you, is keyed on you and intent on removing you and others from his or their freedom or from achieving their goals. Mentally, educationally, and logistically, you should have already culled the BS from your mind and have only the sole purpose in life, of stopping the evil intentioned, nothing else exists.
I know I know, this is point in the thread where the usual suspects reply about their uncle's cousin's friend, who used to be a XYZ Ninja, got into a shooting and the bad, bad Johnny Law, pooped all over him, withheld Mtn Dew from him, they wore jackboots, blah, blah, etc. that's just silly, small minded, trailer park little man/ghetto rat immature inferiority & paranoia.
But in the real world, use the best you've got, that you shoot the best, is your most reliable and is the one you find most comforting to have on your side. For me, my carry rotation consists of my best/favorites that I interface the best with, damn the price of an inanimate object.
The only thing you've really got to lose is the lives of your loved ones and your own.
