How many of y'all have a HD/SD or rig you wear at a range or in training (i.e., battle belt, HSGI leg rig, whatever)?

I really never had a HD set-up but just picked up a HSGI v1 leg rig for cheap, trying to figure out how I want to use it. I do have a 'battle belt' (ugh, I hate the word, but we all know what it means) for the range.

I have several chest rigs and a battle belt but the HSGI rig is what gets the most use. I use it at the range and in training and when I travel with a rifle it gets tossed in the suitcase.

I keep it loaded up with two rifle mags, two pistol mags and a Surefire light in the center pistol mag pouch.

It could be worse, you could call it a WAR belt.... that seems to be catching on now ..... I do have my plate carrier with 2 rifle 2 pistol mags, thats my only rig

I’ve got a battle / range belt. It stays in my man cave. I’ve also got a plate carrier that’s loaded with 4 rifle mags and two pistol mags that stays close to the bed.

You could just call it your pistol belt or your HD Rig. How about your taco holder?

Reflecting on this question, if you're talking strictly home defense, unless you sleep with a belt on the leg rig probably doesn't help you much by itself.

Either a chest rig/plate carrier that you can snap into quickly, or the drop leg rig hanging on a web belt that you can snap on quickly.

Though in all honesty more than likely I'm grabbing the pistol unless I can get to the rifle and either one I grab is what I'm fighting with, likely with what is in it.

I’m getting an hornady rfid ar locker for under my bed to keep the ar closer and safer.

I have the hornady rfid for my pistol bedside and i absolutely love it. Open it every night and not once had an issue. Plus battery backup, I'd be comfortable betting my life on it opening more than other methods.

I have a couple chest rigs. I don't use them.

I have a drop platform for mags I used to use for matches and keep in the closet, don't anymore.

Do have a competition belt, usually have it at the range.

Carry and HD handguns live in holsters that use clips.
If long guns played heavy in my HD plan I'd have buttstock pouches with a reload, as is plan is for them to be pretty stationary no need to carry reloads.

I occasionally think about a belt for playing with carbines at the range.

My very first carbine class (pistol class, too), I had nothing except the holster for the pistol and a couple pistol mag pouches. It didn't take long to realize I needed something better for classes so I wouldn't have to keep running back and forth to my 'stash' of mags.

I actually don't have anything like this.
I have a 2 piece competition belt. When I am using an AR I stick a bladetech AR mag holder and when I do 3gun I add shotshell stuff.

Don't have anything for combat, lol. Well, I have a Condor pouch that holds 3 AR mags and two doublestack pistol mags. It sits in a box unused.
Not my style I am afraid.

I looked at a battle belt rig but when I weighed the cost against the actual utility of such a thing for Joe Homeowner I decided against. It's just not a useful tool for me and it's too expensive as a toy.

I agree in it's limited usefulness at home. I wear mine at the range or in classes. I think I can use the HSGI leg rig for things that go bump in the night; but also at the range.

I have a drop leg holster mounted to the side of my bed for easy access at night. Other than that, just my EDC stuff.

Edit, oh, I forgot I do have a competition belt. I forgot because I don't get to use it very often.

I have a belt and chest rig but I honestly plan for a “what I grab is it” type scenario. My main shotgun wears a sidesaddle for 6 more additional rounds on board. My main AR which I keep simple (light and micro red dot only) has a RediMag for a 2nd mag to ride in. My HD nightstand Pistol is a G17 with a 2nd mag beside it so I can grab it as I go. I will confess my wife hates it but there are a couple AR and Glock mag sitting on top of the fridge, hall tree, etc just in case along with other “help”.

I don't use any rig for HD. I keep a weapon close by at all times loaded to max capacity and there are spare mags about, but that's about it. I have an HSGI Costa Rig and really like it. It travels with me in case of whatever. I use it at matches sometimes for a change of pace from my comp belt.

Fact of the matter is when I hear a bump I'm checking it out, not taking 5 mins to put gear on. If I need more than the 40rds that are in my rifle I'm probably SOL anyhow...
