The first Hawks Ridge Steel Match was a great success. Eleven shooters engaged steel targets from 472-1020 yards from prone and unconventional positions. Rifles were shot from bipods and rear bags from prone. Afterwards, there was a 1000yd milk jug challenge where shooters put in $1 to shoot, winner-take-all.

The next shoot is scheduled for 10am on May 12th at Hawks Ridge Gun Club in Ferguson, NC.

This looks awesome. Can anyone show up to shoot? I'd love to give something like this a shot but the furthest I've shot my current setup is right around 300yds.

Yes. I’m gonna post more info in the Conpetition forum in the next few days. Short answer: .300WM or less, rifles shot off of bipods and bags

Nukeman, do you know the benefits of a membership here? I live close by and have heard it is only a 1000yard benchrest range. If there are other options available I would be interested in a membership. I looked on their website but there really isn’t any info about it. Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Guys I will be there may 12 for competition with two of my buddies but I have some ? I see that it’s $50 to join hawk ridge are they open 7 days week? If so what are hours of operation?

I’ll address this question publicly, because I’ve gotten asked a lot.
It is a working farm, not a commercial gun range. The gun club has been there a long time developing the range and hosting IBS long range Benchrest matches, even hosting the nationals a few years ago. Being a member supports the range, and gets you cheaper fees. Everyone always want to know if they can just go shoot whenever they want. That is not granted by membership alone, individuals would have to have the landowner’s permission to do so, because it is their home and farm.

Is that what you were asking? Can I help answer anything else?

U said it all thanks sir

Heck you’re the only guy I talk to on here on shout box. Looks like u will silent for a week ;)
Won't be much change. I don't talk much in there anymore. I'm going out this weekend to do a final double check that my handloads are good to go. Got new class, 34mm tube and the dang 20moa base had it way to high. I was shooting 18" high at 100, had to order a 0moa base and shorter rings

I’ll be shooting Hornady 140 grain eld match out of my 6.5 . I wish I had time to get a dope sheet on my .308 build by then but unless one of u guys have a 1000 yard shot before then I’ll have to wait.
