10-year-old shot at Iredell Co. bowling alley expected to be OK, according to officials

IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Officials say a child shot at an Iredell County bowling alley Friday evening is expected to be OK.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at George Pappas’ Victory Lanes bowling alley on the 100 block of Morlake Drive in Mooresville. EMS said a 10-year-old child suffered minor injuries in the shooting.

According to a manager at the bowling alley, an off-duty officer's gun went off, grazing the child's back. Investigators have not confirmed that information.

They say a deputy was bowling when his weapon discharged.

If true, they need to seriously re-evaluate their choice of holsters.
Edit, off duty, maybe choice of personal holster. That shouldn’t happen.

Hit by a ricochet rather than being shot would have been a better choice of words. Glad all is well.

I hope we eventually find out how it went BANG????

Not likely!

Maybe the deputy should be forced to carry a revolver with a single bullet in his pocket for a period of time.

It would be interesting to know what gun it was. Apparently it's may not be drop safe ? If it was dropped?
