http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/0...southerners-react-to-snow-and-winter-weather/

In a super funny video that is generating a lot of attention on Saturday, a North Carolina man pretends to be a news reporter while satirically mocking the reaction southerners have to snow and winter weather.

A winter storm moved through parts of the deep south and mid-Atlantic late this week and into Saturday, dropping sleet, freezing rain and lots of snow in many locations. Parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and up the eastern seaboard were areas hit the hardest by the storm.

But as per usual, South Charlotte didn’t see much snow. Rather, they saw a mixed bag of sleet and freezing rain and just a little snow.

That’s what made Stehpen Wilfong’s video so funny. Because as he is talking about the “white blanket of death” that ravaged his neighborhood, barely any snow accumulation can be seen in the background.

“People are waking up this morning and saying, ‘Oh my god. We had no idea it would be this bad in Charlotte,'” Wilfong said, pointing to brown grass and damp roads. “You can see back here on the streets — I don’t know you could even get a snowmobile through this nonetheless a car.”

“We’re getting reports right now that people got trapped in their cars in this white blanket of death,” he hilariously added. “My source at the weather station said they didn’t know it could even get this bad.”

But the comedy was taken a step further. One of the staples of living in the south and anticipating winter weather is running to the grocery store to buy bread and milk. Why? People don’t really know, but if you live in the south and winter weather is impending, then you know that the grocery stores will be nearly empty as the storm approaches.

I know some Wilfong's but not a Stephen.

Milk and bread. This never gets old. I can't refrain from asking why? Every time winter weather is coming I always as why? I would rather run to the liquor store. Always keep atleast 2 cases of silver bullets in alcohol refrigerator on garage, so beer us good but I would hate to be stuck with no liquor.

It wasn't me. The blanket of death has me stuck at the house. I have bacon to smoke anyway no time for pranks.

hell I cook and I can't figure what is being made with the milk and bread. I mean if it was cereal and milk or bread and lunch meat but milk and bread makes no sense

I don't get the difficulty of the concept. You're hitting the nail on the head. Families usually go through milk. They stock up when they don't think they'll be able to get out to buy more. Cereal doesn't require power to cook. Same with sandwiches. Lunchmeat and sliced cheese was all but gone yesterday too for that reason.

I buy eggs and bacon, because when I'm shut in the house it's a good time to throw down on a proper breakfast and not just a rush job like most days.

I also buy hot cocoa...

one reason I got 2 freezers full I need something all I gotta do is go out to barn and grab it and as far as canned food what I don't can myself I've got the shelves full of. I always keep plenty of pasta on hand too

You know for the first time ever we bought bread and milk before the storm but it wasn't because of the storm. We just happened to run out of both.

We usually buy 2 jugs and 2 loaves at a time and put one in the freezer. The wife had already used the frozen and I didn't know it. So Thursday I went to sams and bought our usual 2 week supplies that included 2 jugs and 2 loaves.

Milk i get people buying before a storm if they have kids and don't keep a jug frozen. The bread on the other hand I could do without.

This I can understand. You were out and need to replenish the stock. But when people go out just for that and nothing else, like they are scared they can't get anymore for months is what I cannot understand. I too went to the store Friday evening after work and got milk and bread, but also got a weeks worth of groceries.

Gallons of milk and loaves of bread are for sissies.

The deer are so afraid during a snow storm they won't step one hoof on my property.

I hate to run out of milk and bread before a storm. I don't want to be confused with "those people".

I drink 2 gallons of milk a week regardless of weather.
Yeah, the cholesterol may kill me, but I can strip bark off trees with my fingernails.
