Precision Rifle Picture Thread !!!!!

6.5 Grendel.

Economical equine with a Geissele 2 stage, CMMG lower parts, and Magpul furniture.
The upper is a New Frontier Armory side charger with a 20" Faxon barrel, Millennium Manufacturing bolt, Toolcraft NiB carrier, ALG hand guard, and VG6 epsilon muzzle brake.
For the optic its just a 4-14 PA FFA mildot in an Aero Precision mount. I plan on upgrading at some point.

Remy 700 VTR .308
I have an HS Precision stock on the way. A Leuy VX-I 3-9 sits on it. It’ll stay there a while as this is gonna be a hunting rifle. A little heavy but I don’t mind to hike it around at all.

I'll weigh it when I get home tonight, but my Sig SSG and HK MR762 are about 16 pounds each with the optic.

I carried the SSG once to a deer stand about 50 yards away, and was like... "Nope, not doing that again." Then last year I sold my Tikka to finish off another build, so I ran my HK MR762 with some of the parts removed. I did a full HK G28 conversion, so it was still around 15 pounds with the bipod and bipod adapter off.

Sucked because I drew my rifle on a deer that spotted me raising the rifle. I had to hold it for a couple minutes at half draw and wait for him to step behind a tree to get the rifle up and ready for the shot. Not fun at all. That's why I decided to go with the Scout. It should be about 7 pounds with the extended eye relief Leupold.

I weighed the Steyr Scout, but forgot to post back here with the findings. With the Leupold EIR scope, Steyr mount, scout sling, and two fully loaded magazines of Fiocchi Extrema (165gr Sierra Game King) it weighs exactly 9lbs.

If I had to put a number on it I would say mine comes in at ten given manufacture specs and stock specs and accounting for the small scope. Bipod won’t be taken on hunts so that isn’t factored into the weight. Ten pounds in a gun sling on my pack through the woods isn’t bad at all. I wouldn’t want to do too much mountain hiking as you said. I got a Montana Sling for it as well. So far I think it’s pretty handy. Quick adjustment. Tight lock in the support arm. Gonna get it to the range soon to get a hard 200 yard zero. Picked up some of the Barnes all copper pills for hunting. Pretty pumped for Nov 19

Looking forward to this season too. Not sure how much I'll use the built in bipod on the Steyr. Most of my shots are down the mountain, so the angle wouldn't be too conducive for bipod use. Might be able to use it if I could ever find land around here to hunt.

Luckily I have a coworker with 50 acres and I think I’m the only one who hunts it. I split everything I take out with him as price of admission. I haven’t been out yet which is unlike me. I’ve been swamped busy. I plan on not setting foot in a tree this year and stalk/ambush hunt with a bow designed in 600 ad

Potato quality picture but my first dedicated long range setup. Savage 10T in 6.5 Creedmoor, Harris bipod, Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40mm BDC, Weaver Quad Lock rings. Figured it was good to go to get me started and if I decide I’m into long range I can upgrade as I go.

Very accurate rifle. You will want more magnification for sure than the 9x. Atleast something with a Max of 15-16x

Not all out precision rifles but pretty darn accurate. Top pic is my 5r rem 700 .308 hunting rifle (and my old .338 LM Rem 700 Police behind it) and the lower pic is my cz455 varmint. Both have Leupolds with a basic fine duplex hunting reticle.

My first time shooting past 200 yds!! It was awesome!!! Used my mutt 6.5 grendel. My athlon argos is being repaired ( side focus stopped working) so I through my hawke 4x12x50 hunting scope on it. I managed to hit the full size steel at 600yds 3 out of 5 times :) my old man was shooting his 224 valkyrie and doing just as good as me( or as bad ;) ). We were at the sand lappers rifle range near Columbia. Will be joining there soon.

Just a quick pic.....glass showed up today so I dropped it on not torqued yet.....will get some better pics hopefully this weekend when I take her out to break in the barrel and make some brass to process! Then she gets a paint job!

Just a heads up that bipod is to long go with a 6 to 9 inch.

"Not all out precision rifles but pretty darn accurate."

So what define a "precision rifle". Is it accuracy or is it simply a pile of expensive parts screwed together?

.

My best group yet with my 223 wylde ar15 with a 20 inch ballistic advantage DMR barrel and hornady steel match 75gr ammo at 100yds. Will try to stretch it out in a few weeks. From a bench with bipod and rear bag. That's a 6 inch target.

Forgot to post these in here too, there in the subscriber thread already.

We made up a 6.5x47 before moving all our junk out here. Ignore the mess, we were in a hurry to finish and get to the range. Wanted a lightweight stick so we used a carbon fiber stock and barrel, that did the trick. Of course that scope weighs about as much as the rifle. Lol
