I would love to find a group to shoot with. It’s a great sport

There are a bunch of traditional archery shoots. Try barefoot archery. They have 3D shoots. It's not chinese specific but a good bunch of dudes. That's in Charlotte.

Yeah I’m going to try the Traditional Archery club in Conover this weekend. They have an open to the public day first of the month. They do a 3D course free if it’s your first time. I’m not the most accurate shooting thumb release so I figure I’ll go embarrass myself!!

Barefoot is hunting focused from what I understand. Im not a member there but I couple of my friends are. They have a face book page and tradgang is a forum for traditional archery. Whatever you do don't talk about compounds there. It's truly against the rules.

Foothills? If so, they are a great club. I shoot 3D there in the spring/summer.

Distance is 18 stepped off yards. Still working with this new bow, should be better by the start of bow season. This years bow season will be 100% Traditional. Primarily from a ground blind I made from brush.

This is purely Chinese style. Thumb release off the “wrong side” of the bow

Cool I figured that was the reason. I don't know if I could pull my 60# hill style bow like that.

It’s definitely harder to draw that way initially. Then you go to a longbow or such and draw Mediterranean style and it feels like you’re going to pull the bow in half. Good back tension is the key to it

Dang. Thats too far. I love traditional archery also. I like the Chinese bows but not the thumb release.

Rebirth on this thread!

I would love to have a community to shoot with and share this relaxing method with!
I have a 35# horsebow and some fantastic arrows to help show people with. Don’t scoff at the 35#, proper form should always be learned at a low weight!! It’s an Alibow Crimean Tatar, a great bow I had made a year ago

This method of Archery is befitting to learn for all types. I find it very relaxing to go in my backyard and get some string time to collect my thoughts, let alone hone a viable hunting method. If anyone is interested please let me know!
