My new Lon Humphrey Reaver came in the mail yesterday. The first thing I did was put it on my belt to see how it would ride...

I knew this thing was gonna be big, but it might be a little too big. Haha. The tip of the handle keeps scraping against doors and walls as I walk through my house. My wife saw me trying it on and looking at myself in the mirror. I saw her rolling her eyes. Haha!

I bought it to carry scout style while camping with my family. But I also want to carry it when making quick trips to town and back. Just my local hometown, not like Raleigh or Charlotte.

Please excuse my vanity. I really just wanted to show off my new knife.

Switch it up to a cross draw over the shoulder rig ...
Tha's what I was gonna say... cross draw chest rig is the way I would carry that knife. Mount it on a bandolier. You could hang it from the bandolier, but I like 'em on my chest, like Sam Eliott as Tell Sackett.

I have found much smaller knives get carried and used more for me. My 3” Essee is probably the most useful knife I own. I could see going to a 4-5” knife for camping or hiking. Beyond that I’d go Machete for cross jungle tours, zombies and maybe naked and afraid outings.

Yes, this thing is a bit unwieldy. I still love it, but I can already see that it is not going to be as functional as I had hoped.

I just drove in my truck for the first time while wearing it. I only drove 10 miles each way and it's way too uncomfortable. I couldn't slide all the way back into the seat properly.

I think I'm going to need your help @rantingredneck .

Can I come hang out with you again while you make me a kydex sheath to hold this beast?

I think it'll be easier to carry with a sheath made of thinner material, and i need belt loops that can be moved to fit around belt loops in different places in different pants.

This is the knife and the leather sheath it came with...

Something like this... But I do not want thumb snap retention for the knife. I just want the kydex to hold it in place at the choil.

Nice blade! I'd want to show it off too.
That's just too big to carry horizontally unless you gain about 100 lbs. When I wear a machete I hang it from my belt at the left hip, opposite my gun.

Thank you! I already lost 40 lbs. I definitely don't want to gain 100 back. Haha.

Yup, I can work something like that out. I'm committed already the next couple of weekends with work stuff, kydex stuff, and getting our rental house prepped to rent again, but after that for sure.

I just live down the road from you, and I'm not in a hurry. Thanks!

If a fat guy is needed to carry it properly, let me know ;)

The handle looks like it would catch on lots of stuff sticking out that far.
Yep, it's already caught on a few doors and door casings, just walking around the house, this morning.

I'm still wearing it. It's been on for about 5 hours now. It's not getting any more comfortable. Haha!

The good news with Kydex is you can change attachments with relative ease. I can build something for you that you can carry horizontally on your belt and then convert to something carried upside down cross draw with a strap over the shoulder attached to your belt. All you would have to do is unsnap or unscrew attachments.

That sounds perfect. Let's do it... Then, all I'll need is a red bodysuit, two deagles, and i can start whacking bad guys like Deadpool.

At least until they shoot back, since I doubt you have his insane healing factor.
