Love my Benchmade’s so this is pretty disappointing if it’s true. Story is the police department posted this and quickly took it down.

Can’t really blame Benchmade, they got hire to scrap some metal. They were the tool, that is all.

Facilitating it is supporting it.

They should auction the guns off for victims advocacy or offsetting LE programs and doing away with asset forfeiture.

I agree with your second sentence, but that’s not a call to be made by the police or Benchmade.

The real issue is where I see Benchmade has donated tens of thousands of dollars to antigun Democrats.

2010-2018

TOTAL$36,703
To Democrats: $33,203
91%
To Republicans: $3,500
10%

To be fair, they are locate in Democrat stronghold and probably believe that it’s better to have a seat at the table than to give to candidates that generally can’t win.

I try to judge a company based on it’s products and not it’s politics, it is not always possible.

Looks like they mostly scrubbed it off of twitter and facebook. @JimB makes a good point, however it still doesn't paint a pretty picture.

Regardless not a smart thing on Benchmade's part. They probably should have asked the PD not to post it on social media, regardless of their (either the PD or Benchmade) virtue signaling desires. They can easily support their local PD in other ways and I am sure the PD can find many people in that area who will happily destroy firearms for them.

Edit: interesting post on instagrm by Military Arms Channel : https://www.instagram.com/p/BuIMW_BhwgJ/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1777e6fb4c6ar

They also make a good point.

Damn...I have been carrying a BM clipped in my right pocket for nearly 20 years. Have friends here at Bragg that have been using Microtechs for a while and swear by them, so looks like I will be giving them a look today.

You can't say one thing and your actions "say" the opposite...be it an individual or company, say what you mean and mean what you say...have some integrity.

I haven't carried a Microtech but I've had BM, Spyderco, and Kershaw. Don't overlook the USA Kershaw knives. Their support is amazing and for the money they can't be beat.

Looks like a nice Russian SKS there on the chopping block.

I don't see anything in that dog's vomit of either message that changes my mind about Benchmade. There's a principle involved here. If I own a bidness and LE comes to me and asks me to destroy the tools of liberty, I'm going all "BUTter" on them! But that's just me and it's easy to say. [edited for clarity.]

This is just blatantly stupid on their part and they will suffer the consequences. I’ve never owned one and never will after this.

How long before videos of people cutting up benchmade knives start popping up?

"Oregon City Police requested the use of specialty equipment within the Benchmade facility"
Really?!? As @Button Pusher mentioned:
upload_2019-2-21_7-25-34.png

Who was doing the destroying? A cop, or a BM employee on the clock? Due to ins requirements, a non employee should not be working, cutting, creating a hot zone on their facility. Who insures BM, we should give them a call.
If it was an employee BM was donating to destruction.

Shame, I've had quite a few of their knives over the years . Won't have any more though.
