Favorite Restaurants of CFF members--Post Here

Does anyone have any recommendations for good, possibly non-chain places to eat in either the Monroe/Matthews or Southern Pines/Aberdeen areas?

Steaks, burgers, seafood, bbq are all favorites.

Where is that Pizza place? Ive not heard of it before
Beside the candy factory, I still haven't tried Southern Lunch. We went to Village Grill which is pretty new in Lexington, wasn't blown away. It's like Sunrise Diner but serves beer.

My wife and I will be in Pittsboro sometime soon. Any suggestions?
Bella Donna Italian restaurant was really good and there’s an old time soda shop on main st., wasn’t really blown away by the food, but the atmosphere, desserts and sodas were good.

Village Grill has been around a while, its not bad food but I rarely go there. Country cooking.

Southern Lunch doesn’t sell alcohol. It’s more of a plate lunch place that served the local furniture factories but the locals kept it in business because their food is really good.
On Wednesday you can get their breakfast items for dinner, YUM! On Friday’s they have fish plate specials. Just check their hours before you decide to go because like all businesses in the Uptown Lexington area, they have “unique” hours.

Perfect Blend. Great people. Christo’s Wings are the best in Lexington.

I know about the weird hours. When we left Village Grill at 715 my wife wanted a coffee and every coffe place was closed. I had a couple beers with a friend of mine after he cut my hair at The Reserve. Cool little bar with a decent selection of good beer. Lexington seems to be willing to grow, unlike Thomasville.

Southern Pines. Full Moon Oyster Bar. The shrimp and grits are outstanding.

Southern Lunch, since 1925 on third generation, yes, Plate lunch and Breakfast for sure, closes Saturday afternoon and closed on Sunday and Monday.
"Famous" Breadburgers... and other stuff, Great Cornbread... heard praises on Wings here also...
for a treat ask for "Duck" chicken or fried shrimp... spicy! Has Redfish, Oysters, Mahi Mahi, etc on most days....

I'd say though the best tenderloin is on the corner of Talbert Blvd and MLK Blvd, think called Lexington Family Grill (locals know as 'silver diner').
Village Grill, generally good food also, a sunday morning breakfast for me anyhoo...

I believe it is Main Street Deli... yes beside of Candy Factory.. "famous' roast beef... but cha have to ask for the pickle :) that whole block offers variety, Shoto (reported good bar upstairs) and on corner now a Bagel place with new ownership i need to try.

Not much on the coffee shop deal, drink mine at breakfast.

If you appreciate good fried tenderloin, The BBQ Shack in Thomasville on Randolph St is my favorite and their homemade biscuits.

Next time go over to High Rock Outfitters, it's sort of across from the courthouse
Real chill bar, usually live music on the weekends, outdoor seating too for those nice spring/summer/fall nights.

For Charlotte, Huntersville, Denver, Lincolnton folks. Midtown Sundries in Denver on Hwy 73 and close to Hwy16. The wings are excellent. No recommendations on the other items as I was not wowwed. The Barbalo sauce wings are very good. I only go there for wings. They create an addiction like crack.

I'm getting very fond of Short Sugars in Reidsville. Great BBQ and they have Chuck wagon patty, which is a plus

Where can I get one of these pancakes?

For anyone in the Cleveland/Lincoln County arease, check out The Honey Hog in Fallston. Truly farm-to-table, they raise their own hogs and cows and source most vegetable locally. I eat there 1-2 times a week, and it's a 20 or so minute drive for me. Check out their FB page.

Texas Tap and Steak in Lexington is a good steak place
Comparable pricing to the chain places, but great people and great flavor!

Silvia's Honey Tree
150 E Hanes Mill Rd
Winston-Salem, NC 27105

A family restaurant; Greek food is their specialty, with plenty of 'Murcan options with a mild Greek twist.

Whole lotta talk on here about Lexington NC. Didn't realize so many Lexington area folks on the forum. :)

Speedy Lohr's BBQ is great (my favorite the last 2 years).

Randys Restaurant on Hwy 64 just off I-85 is great. Jeppo and I just met there for lunch today and he payed for it. Made it even better!

When we would go to VA we would always try to time it so we could stop at Randy's. Since they opened I-74 we go that way now to work our way back over to Hwy 52.

Cousin Gary's in Pilot Mountain is a good little place, too.

We finally went to Southern Lunch Wednesday night and it was pretty dang good. I got fried oysters and my wife got chicken and dumplings. Will for sure go back.
I've never been but love fried ursters. I'm searching around for their menu and the one I found doesn't show them. Was that a daily special or is it offered every day?

It's a daily special but I think it's on everyday when it's in season.

Speedy Lohr's is no mores
Now under new ownership, called Arcadia BBQ or something.
It's about 5 minutes from my house, passed it today on the way to the range, actually.

Never was a big fan of that place, always liked Speedy's and Smiley's more, both on 52 near 85.

After Thursday night - James Joyce Irish Pub in Durham!

I never ate at Speedy Lohr's in Arcadia so know nothing about that one.

I was referring to Speedy Lohr's in Lexington on Hwy 8 South\Cotton Grove Road. This location is good and sometimes difficult to find a table or booth without waiting.

I agree with you on Speedy's and Smiley's with the latter being my preference of the two.

I don't like the one named Lexington BBQ aka "Honeymonk's" because they are anti Second Amendment and post their entrance as such.

When it’s your turn, we sure ain’t eatin’ at Randy’s. :D

Oh, I know where youre talking about now, up by the Children's Home
Been there once ever, it's just so far from me.
That and it's been about a dozen restaurants, I grew up with it being Whitley's

Yes it was Whitley's for a long time...then they had a big fire.
