A vigil honoring Colorado high school shooting victim Kendrick Castillo dissolved into protest late Wednesday with some students walking out and others chanting "mental health" when speakers discussed gun control.

Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Jason Crow spoke urged support for gun control legislation, prompting students in the crowd to shout out dissenting comments such as "political stunt" and "we are people, not a statement" – to applause.

The event, one of at least three memorials held Wednesday, was organized by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Can you blame them? The one trans shooter was well known to students for wanting revenge on all of them.

Did you see that headline on CNN?

Related: Did you notice the UNCC story vanished when it was determined to be a handgun? There are extremely specific circumstances that determine whether a shooting is noteworthy.

If I was a student whose value was being determined by these opportunistic politicians and journalists I'd be outraged too; they are the opposite of objective.

A report this week that a lot of UNCC students voiced support for the University looking into why students drop out of school (such as the assailant) and to find out their grievances.

Yea kids..... They saw through the BS and buffalo chips put out by the Libs... Bet that pissed off the Brady campaign..

The Brady Campaign:

“We are deeply sorry any part of this vigil did not provide the support, caring and sense of community we sought to foster and facilitate and which we know is so crucial to communities who suffer the trauma of gun violence..."

There was more to it, but this was the gist. They have egg on their face, and they know it.

Even the apology was full of innuendo - they just doubled down ... "trauma of gun violence" vs. "trauma inflicted by a maliciously evil individual" for instance. Put another way, the Brady Campaign just implied that the kids who protested being used probably acted under duress (so don't take them seriously).

Maybe I'm a Machiavell, but that's how I read between the lines.

Hard agree. The Brady Bunch was still using the kids. Just saying 'poor ol' kids just don't understand they trauma they have undergone' a different way.

It worked for them in Florida, I guess they were looking for their next, ummm what was that kids name that was that was all over the news. He was everywhere, spewing crap about how he was effected by the shooting, only to find out he wasn't even on the campus. Yeah, I can't remember his name either...

That's not a bad idea, although it's not necessarily a solution either. Drop out rates are a ding on the school reputation. And a good percentage of these shooters are dropouts. The first they could likely get some good info on and maybe improve on. The second, I'm not so certain of. I'm still not convinced it's a school/student issue that they can solve. You can't solve someone else problem by changing your behavior, that's enabling. These shooters have issues, and although they blame their current circumstances that does not mean changing those circumstances is the real solution. It's much deeper than that.

Hmmm ... has a “new” generation of youth actually awoke to the mass media bovine caca? Strange that in gun control Denver CO kids realized they were being used ... good for them and the parents who raised what hopefully is a start to a wiser generation behind enemy lines in Colorado.

Hmm... I wonder if it has anything to do with it being a charter school vs regular public school. Maybe, they're actually teaching their kids to think. You know, like homeschoolers. :D

I believe that the article said it's a public charter school?

Worst grave dancers are the politicians that go knock on the victims family’s doors ... Odumba did it for a photo op with Sandy Hook and I’m sure other have also used families to get positive PR also.

I can remember Tim Kaine in Virginia doing it with Virginia Tech....and he ended up running the Democratic National Convention and running for Hillary's VP.....scumbag.

Charter schools are on the way up but it will not be long before the GUBMENT steps in and deem them unfair to disadvantage youth.

Already happening in the Charlotte area. Surrounding towns had to get the legislature's blessing to start their own charters and break free from CMS
CMS is tyrannical and needs to be split up at the very least. Really want to get out of their grip before the kids get into school. Unfortunately doesn't look like the surrounding school districts are much better, at least not Union County.

My son is getting ready to finish up his second year in a charter school. He absolutely loves it and we do also. Admission is by a lottery drawing, they all wear uniforms, they do not provide any transportation, or have a cafeteria. The parents have to be more involved with getting them to and from school, and sending a lunch with them. They do not put up with any nonsense, it is a privilege to attend that school. If you continue to be a problem they will hand you back your student folder, and advise to return to the public school system you came from.

Yeap, them not providing transpiration or serving lunch will be thier downfall. That's will will open up the door for " less privileged" discrimination lawsuits.

I know of 3 going up out that way. Steele creek, Mooresvulle and somewhere else right around Charlotte

Cabarrus WAS better until the cancer spread from the West lmao. My youngest kid will be my 3rd child to attend a different high school than his siblings did

They are all shameless. Can't wait to dance on the graves of the dead.

The douchebaggery is disgusting. My representative Alma Adams, after a brief moment of silence in congress, launched into the anti 2A rhetoric.

"Enough is enough", she says. Blaming a gun for the senseless BS, instead of taking a good long look at the reasons why people do these things. That would mean that they would have to admit that the amoral socialist agenda they have been pushing for decades could be to blame. That would also derail the disarmament of the population that the left needs to push their agenda.

They depend on the naive among us that think banning guns would solve the problems our society faces.

Adams does not represent you.

May have been assigned to the district by gerrymandering, but doesn’t represent you.

I agree. This is one crazy looking district on the map. The area is growing, but the problem is that a lot of the people are liberal NE yankees that apparently like her. I'm a mid-western yankee. Mrs. is the rare conservative NE yankee. I have no illusion that Adams represents my best interests. She is still the one I end up with though. It's needless to say that I don't bother sending the 2A e-mails to her office.

Same here. I have contacted her a bunch of times on subjects, no response. She cares for nothing but the vote.

I've entertained the thought of what it would take to oppose her.
I write Return To Sender on everything I get in the mail and drop it at whatever post office I pass by.
