Let's drop the weight challenge

i find bikes terribly uncomfortable in my nether regions and Ive been thru 4 different seats but I could ride for 30 minutes. My wife rides 20 to 25 miles a day when she rides. I went back to walking then my Achilles starting acting up. Going to get that fixed tomorrow.

It's not really the seat that's making you uncomfortable, it's the restriction in bloodflow. It just takes some conditioning to get used to it. I could only ride for 15 or 20 minutes at first.

Weighed in at 258 this morning. Yesterday was first day of cut so I can attribute the big loss to a shock to the system to speak.

Goal on this one it 225 by 4/30.

Passed 90 miles YTD Running today, ahead of pace for 500 this year. I don't think I can hit 1000 at this pace, but as I raise my cardio base and the weather gets better, I may be able to ramp up to get there.

I picked up a touch of food poisoning Monday evening. So I did an involuntary purge all night. I threw up everything I had ever thought about eating. I think I threw up stuff I had only looked at pictures of.

So I dropped 4 pounds the hard way.

The hard way? Hell, that's the easy way... Lol... ;)

So I put my indoor spin cycle together Tuesday night. Spent time on it that night, twice the next day, and once a day since.
I just did a 20 minute session on it, got a good sweat going.
Trying to be active daily. Rather, do something that I didnt usually do until last week. Burn extra calories.

I have a step goal of 10k a day, the phone picks up my legs' movement as steps, and have been killing my goal each day by several thousand.

Today I bought some rice cakes, as well as some greek yogurt.
Trying to buy more like that than chips or some other snack that would be way worse for me.

Im trying to make SMALL changes to my diet, and getting far more active than Ive been in months.

I just want to lose some girth in my mid section, slim up my thighs a little. There's some clothes Im looking forward to wearing in a month or two.

To all of you - keep it up! Keep going, yall motivate me every time I open this thread up!

I lost 3 #'s stressing about my surgery and all the things i had to get done b4 it. Nice surprise when i weighed in at the surgery center. I do not recommend this me th hod of weight loss however.

I'm working on nutrition, my weight bounces up and down, but watching carb timing some more, mostly later, seems to be making a difference.

Workouts are still going good, and losing fat, just not dropping true weight.

On modified keto diet with my wife per recommendation from my GP. He is on it as well even though he does not need to lose weight. I am type 2 diabetic. Have dropped one of my oral meds since being on keto. Read everyday an on line article from people with no credibility or very little credibility ("registered dieticians") slamming keto. Screaming that "you need carbs to think and live." Modified keto has carbs, just not a lot. "Healthy people dont need keto." Healty people dont usually go on diets. They refuse to acknowledge how well keto works for diabetics. My GP's practice is fairly large with 6 main doctors, then PA's and RN's. They hired a "registered" dietician and directed all their over weight and diabetic patients to her. Me and my wife did a session with her and left shaking our heads. We thought she was absolutely worthless and after a year, my GP did too. She's gone. GP has embraced the diet program of Dr. Eric Westman at Duke. There is no 1 size fits all approach to diet and health but if you need to drop some weight and or get your blood sugar under control, keto is a good way to do it.

Meal prep for the week. Greek inspired, brown rice, chicken, spinach, a few olives, feta cheese, light vinaigrette, I put some black beans in mine for the fiber and other nutrients.

Hoping I can kick start some weight loss

Committed to run Murph as RX by 12/31. That would get me in better shape, lose some weight, and a reason to buy cool stuff. Already ordered the PC and weight plates.

Week off of weight lifting, hitting it again monday and start a new cycle. Was going to do a high mileage run week, and did 7 miles yesterday, but kiddo has the flu and I'm not feeling great, and missed the run this morning.

I still am in the meh camp when it comes to working out. I went 4 times last week, 3 the week before and probably won’t exercise this week besides the couple of sit ups I do to get in and out of bed lol I need to find my motivation again but it is playing a serious game of go f yourself with me this year

I have to brag just a little. I got tired of feeling fat (mostly because I WAS fat) and went on a water only fast. I am in my eighth day
of no food at all, only water. I plan to probably go 10 days. No"spiritual" reasons, just physical. Extended fasts not only shrink your
belly and get fat off your face, they clean out your kidneys (my piss is almost clear, which is a good sign), and lower your blood pressure. I have done this a number of times in the past because I get disgusted with myself, and for other reasons. I feel much better after it is over. The longest time I went without eating anything at all was in Mexico at a Cambridge University training class. I went 28 days without food, bicycling 5 miles in and out every day. I lost 55 pounds

It does funny things to your body (you are very tired and need naps), but the really nasty hunger pangs are gone after 3-5 days. You should drink LOTS of water, especially when you feel that hunger. You may feel nauseous and need to puke (I never have, but others have), or get headaches (I do), feel weak and faint (ditto) and get lightheaded (definitely), but it is such a great feeling of accomplishment. Plus it is like free bariatric surgery! Afterwards you can't eat as much. People who say "you will just put it right back on" have never done it.

Anyway, I am proud of myself. I got motivated by the awesome results Bill Hill has done (he has dropped almost 60 pounds) and decided to just do something about it.

If you are like me and think "I will by damn show my body who is boss here!" (ok, I am weird, but maybe you understand), this is a great way to do it. I posted the below pic because I am proud of myself!

If this is bragging, then ok. I hope it helps someone.

I’ve done 6 days fasts and felt so good by day 6 that I debated going longer. It does feel good to tell your body whose boss and remind ourselves we don’t NEED to eat every time we have a thought about food. Good on ya.

I found out the feeling bad part is because the energy source you are running on is pure garbage, the stored fat in your system. That feeling like crap, the headaches is from a poor energy source and its a GREAT SIGN that you are burning off the stored fat.

The naps and being tired is the same by-product of that crap fuel.

Dude, thanks! I was running IF the last few days and yesterday I started feeling just like described. To the T. Flu has been in my house, stress at work, but I started to feel a little better then ate dinner and it went away almost completely.

Running a major mini cut with IF and have lost 6 lbs in the last 4 days. Would like to drop another 4 (get me truly under 250)

My scale has shown a few days of big losses and then it just goes right back, and it did it with 250 once before, but it was about 9 lbs off. This will be a true sub 250.

2 of these, plus a PC coming for runs and calestenics (not sure how to spell that at all) will make it a lot more fun.

I hiked 5 miles down and back up the Cape Fear River bluffs with the missus after church this morning. I told her on the way back up that if I didn't make it to leave me and let the vultures finish me off.

When she asked what I meant by "hauling ass", I told her I meant hauling 220lbs of bricks up a hill.

Still solidly in the meh camp. Forced myself to go to the gym 5 days a week for 3 weeks and only went once in week 4 and none this week. Driving force was the Spartan races my oldest and I were doing but, since she tore her ACL at the tail end of last year, we have none scheduled for this year. Might need to suck it up and sign up for one myself and hope I find the desire to workout again

It's really tough when you don't have anyone to work out with or help you stay on top of it...

I feel your pain... My inner bitch tends to take over when I am left to my own devices...

Exactly. I have been working out by myself for a couple years but had to answer to my daughter if I stunk up the race, so I definitely had someone to help me stay motivated

Had to fast 24hrs for colonoscopy and thought i wud die. Cutting out "on purpose carbs" is easier for me. Down 2 pant/belt sizes since Jan. If i can do it, anybody can.

Started doing cardio last week. I feel like I’m going to die every night when jogging, but I’m hoping to increase my stamina. Hopefully some fat drops off while I work on it.

No booze during the week. Low cal/minimal bfast. Small lunch. Decent dinner. No evening snacks. Basically a general calorie reduction. Losing same amount of weight as 18/6 fasting. Working out 3 days a week; 1 or 2 days a week at work I walk 8 stories of stairs, 2-3 times. Lost maybe 6 pounds in a month.

I wanted to check in. I've been doing a weight-loss program through my local chiropractic clinic. It's ketosis based with strict portion control supplemented by some voodoo oral drops . I've been tracking my daily caloric intake and following the guidelines very strictly. I'm at about 500-600 calories a day.

I'm 5'11" and started the program 33 days ago weighing an embarrassing 283.4 pounds. I weighed in this morning at 251.2 pounds. I'm doing the strict diet part for another 23 days then I transition into maintenance. I'm hoping to drop another 15-20 pounds during that time. Dropping my daily calorie intake from 3500+ to 500 was horrible the first week. It seriously took me about 5 days to get my head out of the fog!

So, got my motivation back today. Had a physical at work and my weight, bf% and bp all went up. Time to get my fat arse back to the gym

Am I reading you correctly? You went from 3,500 cals/day to 500 cals/day?

I would like to know about this

@Chuckman
Yes. I was eating horribly and drank sweet tea like water.

Sausage Egg McMuffin and large sweet tea in the morning, some sort of cheeseburger and fries or fried chicken for lunch, and a protein with rice/pasta/potato/gravy/cheese plus dessert for dinner.

I'm at 500 -600 a day total intake now. I hit maybe 700 if I eat beef for a protein at a meal.

@gravehunterzero A local chiropractor is part of a NC based weight loss clinic/program thing. It's call Carolina Weight Loss Institute. You HAVE to lose weight if you follow their guidelines. 500 calories a day isn't a whole lot! lol. I'm following it very strictly because: 1. I'm getting solid results at my weekly check-ins. 2. Accountability- I have a food journal that gets reviewed weekly. 3. I paid a fee at the beginning and I want to get my monies worth! :D

I was at 39 pounds down at the weigh in last week. Two more weeks of active dieting left.

I reached 50 pounds down on the active diet portion. Now I'm two and a half weeks into the transitional stage and have dropped another 5. I upped my calorie intake to between 1100 and 1500 a day now. Can eat pretty much anything except for potatoes, rice, and breads. So overall I went from 283 to 228. Pant size went from 42 to 38. Shirt size went from a 3X to a very loose 2X. Some XL shirts fit but I really have to try them on.

I went to the Fleet Feet place in Asheville and got fitted for some legit running shoes and bought a pair. I went on my first 1 mile run today. First run since I was running 5k's about fifteen years ago. All of my weight loss has been diet related so far. I'm finally comfortable enough to give running and biking a try. :)

CHRIS

Since I was diagnosed with diabetes and told I was going to die very quickly if I kept doing the same things I was doing, I've lost about 30lbs, my blood sugars are now back in the 150 range instead of 400's, and most of it is due to diet, no\low sugar foods is HUGE in weight loss, low carbs, no extra snacking, more water less everything else. And if you don't know, I CANNOT EXERCISE, all of my weight loss is due to diet. I do as much walking as my body allows before my nervous system tells me I can't, which isn't much, because of a movement disorder. Diet and self control, it's hard to not want to get your favorite ice cream anymore but once you get past the first month or so without those things you won't even miss them anymore.

I still struggle with cravings but I don't act on them. I keep a food diary and use a fitbit with the connected scale to help with my accountability. I'm trying to get healthier so I have a longer life with my wife and son. I'm pretty sure I'm an alcoholic and I gave up all the hooch as a resolution this year. That was the motivation that got me going with the weight loss.

Yea I get cravings every once in a while, I was on a downward spiral with the booze myself before I met my current wife after my divorce. I'm not a tech person, not that I don't get it, more that I don't care for it, I've tried the Fitbit thing and it's just not for me. I'm 31 and all of the sudden, not but about 6 months or so ago, my A1c got to 11 (very very bad) and my endocrinologist told me I was not going to see 50 if I didn't change my life. I'm considering weight loss surgery because I cant exercise. He already told me the VA would pay for it. And that I'm showing many improvements to my lifestyle. This can be a hard thing to do, but sometimes it seems pretty easy.

Well, I couldn’t self-motivate, so I signed my daughter and I up for the Spartan Sprint on 24 Nov in Mill Springs and that fanned the flame. I have been doing a HIRT routine M-W-F and stretching/cardio T-TH-Sat for the past 2 weeks. Lost 5lbs so far and the energy levels are recovering. We won’t be setting any PRs this race because she is still recovering from her ACL surgery but it will be great just to be out there again

Still rehabbing from.my Achilles surgery buy trying to walk 30mins a day and stay on modified keto diet. Sweated balls at rifle range today. Drank a quart of Gatorade Zero.
