26 minutes for the police to show up I

Meh. Nothing surprises me much after being part of a really slow response.

We called 911 for a report of “a car just drove through a house”, and it took them 1.5 hours to show up. Too busy trying to figure out if city, county or state was coming.

(NCSHP is who finally showed up)

As not to distort the facts, she called them first saying something about a suspicious person. They probably put that low on the list. Then 10 minutes later she calls and says she's got a dude at gunpoint and they should show up. Then 16 minutes pass. Assuming they weren't responding to the first call anyway, the 2nd only took 16 min.

The truly odd thing is that after the first say 5, 10 or 15 minutes he didn't get bored of standing around and try to run away. that's the rule right, if the teacher doesn't show up for 10 minutes after class starts you get to leave?

Normal response for first call, normal traffic rules, second call and third from neighbor who went to the house also armed,
was lights and sirens, K9, Air and additional units.

I live in the country. Average response time for LEO, 10 minutes at full throttle.
When seconds count, they are minutes away.

I was thinking the same things. Besides, she had everything under control, right? I think it would have been funny if the BG had need to go pee or smoke. :D

Around here they respond to calls about a drive by shooting, talk to the wrong people for 30 minutes, then leave without talking to anyone else. Meanwhile a car and trailer on the side of the road they didn't check out had bullet holes in them.

These are all glaring signs screaming, “Move outa da hood!!!”

Good on this woman for scaring the crap out of the BG enough to make his stay until police arrived.
[Back when we lived in Lowell, we had ADT.
I must have not secured the kitchen door properly and w wind blew it open. That triggered the alarm. Despite how loud it is, and phone calls from ADT, my wife and I did not wake up until a Lowell police officer was in our bedroom. There were two cruisers in the yard. It was around 2AM. I don;t think I sleep so deeply anymore. ]

Years ago our house was broken into while my wife was out running errands. When she came home she noticed our possessions were rifled through and could hear the bad guy(s) tromping upstairs. She immediately left, called 911 and waited 42 minutes for CMPD to show up. By the time the PD arrived the bad guy(s) had fled out through the backyard

I would have told them there was no need to hurry because all we will need is the Coroner. The guy will be laying here when you get here.
Please hurry, I've killed an intruder.

Not da hood. Not yet at least. Not the best place, but not the worst.

I did tell the supervisor I talked to that if that happened while I was home I would just call them to come clean up the mess if they were not going to do anything else. My neighbor called them later that night when he realized his trailer had taken a round. They argued with him about where the bullet came from. He told them they were too stupid to track an elephant in the snow and told them to leave. The yahoos here are a real mixed bag. Not really belligerent, but I'm not sold on their competence either.

We thank God we're in the woods away from chaos.
