Best Micro and Compact 9’s

My most used compact 9 and most carried almost a 9mm (in projectile diameter at least):

That’s a 507c atop the g19 with electrical tape strips covering the annoying Holosun logo. That eotech like reticle has me spoiled. And the jframe is my most carried gun these days. These are the only 2 guns that are loaded currently in the spockrock household.

P365 is my newest edc. I've run enough trouble free rounds that I trust it. (500+)
I use the smaller factory (10rd) mags with zero issues (so far)
Carried a Springfield Range Officer Compact 9mm for years...
I love the P365 weight and size for AIWB carry.

I remember I took @JBoyette ‘s class with one of these MK9’s way back when. I got to practice failure drills.

Now I carry a Glock 19 about 90% of the time. Rugers for deeper concealment needs the other 10%, EC9 and very recently the LCPII to replace an older one. My LC9s was also super reliable. I’ve had an XDS and the Shield, I’d even recommend those over the MK9. Much more tactical resets and shorter trigger. The MK9 has a butter smooth DAO like trigger, just a long reset, and during those classes it couldn’t hold up to that amount of fire without failures.

Despite my earlier post, I walked into another Glock 43 today. Also have some Shield parts kits in the mail (I'll make another thread about that).

Three years straight wearing this aiwb, 10+1

I've got another mag with a +2 base plate that I use occasionally. I find this set up to be a very compact and reliable platform.

I use the Pearce +2s (that are only really +1) on all my mags. Just more comfortable for my big ol' mitts.

I'd really like to try out a G19 for carry & to keep a couple stashed around the place, but want to get my gen5 G34 with a Vortex Venom to the range & see how well I get on with an optic. My one experience with an optic on a pistol has me thinkin' I'll need to go with a G19MOS.

I still say the Ruger LC9s is the way to go for a 'tiny' 9, though I'll admit I've never shot a Shield. Not as comfortable to shoot as that fat baby G26, but I shoot it as accurately as the baby Glock. Ruger SR9C is also a very nice EDC 9mm, IMO. Ruger does a better striker-fired trigger than Glock, but I shoot the G26 better for whatever reason.

My vote is for the Sig P365. I now have 1000 rounds through mine an not a hiccup or issue. I run both 10 and 12 round mags. I retired my Shield not long after buying and testing out the P365. It isn’t for everyone though. The grip size and angle are strange for some. It’s stippling can dig in your side, and it has a sharper but very manageable recoil.

My edc is a Ruger lc9s pro which is adequate for its purpose but I don't consider it ideal. As far as I know the "best" micro doesn't exist (yet) at least for me. The CZ Rami has all the features I want but it is simply too fat to be a micro. If it was a single stack I would be carrying one. The Kimber Micro 9 is close also but is not da / sa. For me a perfect micro would be 9mm, all metal, hammer fired, da/sa and no wider than .9" and no longer or taller than a Rami. If anyone knows of such a beast, educate me please.
For a compact I carry a Kahr P40 but I much prefer a micro for concealed carry.

If I'm carrying a small 9mm it'll be this Glock 26. Pimped a little to color code it at a glance from my G27.

Any felt need to go to a smaller 9mm brings out the elcheapo PF9.

PF9... The gun you only hope to shoot once or twice. :)

I've seen some P365's in gun stores but try not to look directly at them. o_O Afraid I might like them.

dbracin...nice looking pocket holsters. What brand?

My overall favorite carry is the M&P Shield 9, 10+1 with an extended mag. I recently found a great deal on a Kimber Micro 9 Raptor, 7+1 (stainless) for when I have less concealable clothing. So far, with a Hogue grip; extended mag with finger grip; and pocket holster, it is well concealed. Need to get some range time in with it and some different brands of ammo.

Curious if anyone here has experience with the Kimber, good or bad, and with what ammo?IMG_1554.JPG

Have not had a Kimber handgun here in the last 10 years that was as reliable as a SCCY. And that's The Truth. This requires 1,000 rounds with No Malfunction.

ETA...I have seen folks say that a particular product is good if it can be bought for the right price...What IS the right price for a product that can not be counted on to be reliable? As others have said...They are all good if you don't shoot them.,.I have seen NO Kimber here come close to the 1,000 round reliability test that the $169 SCCY breezes through.
Not to be too simple minded but I have no Amount that makes an inferior product a good buy.

Not that particular model but overall Kimber is good (if you get it at a good $).

I saw those pistols while I was in Outdoor World, the price was about $350-$400. They seemed nice but at that time I wasn't looking for one. The prices seemed to have gone up.

Good idea.

I read somewhere that grip sleeves can keep the P365 from disintegrating. :D

SCCY...every thing I read (not ads) and hear about SCCY is great. Maybe some lessons to be learned there.
I wasn’t impressed with one of the earlier ones cpx-1 but that was over a decade ago now. I’m guessing the Cpx-2 and 3 were much better improvements as far as reliability?

The fat baby G26 with either the 10 round flush or a 12 round pmag (thus far they have been flawless for me and they are shorter than the +2 extensions)

Plus I like that the sights and trigger are set up the same as my G19 at home.
