Any small engine mechanics?

Where do you buy a new carb from that is reputable and won't be a piece of junk? Are all these carbs interchangeable or do you need to find one for your specific equipment?
Like LeeMajors said, they are specific. And just because it’s a Stihl 044 chainsaw(just for example), doesn’t mean they all take the same carb. They offer several different carbs for that model. So it’s helpful to remove the carb and get the make and model number off it.

Amazon and eBay are good places to get them. Some aftermarket carbs are junk though

So who do you guys use on amazon and ebay?

I already bought the wrong spark plug due to an erroneous "recommendation" by home depot's website. It is a Ryobi pressure washer (ry80940b) with a Honda engine, maybe they can't figure that out, lol. So I guess I need to know what Honda engine it has to find the right carb?

You look the carb by the engine model and serial. not the equipment it's on They caould have used 4 or 5 different engines on that washer

That’s a start but I would recommend taking the carb off and getting the numbers off it and then looking it up. There could be several different engines on that pressure washer. The same with the spark plug. I would suggest removing the spark plug and getting the numbers off it and then ordering a plug. I buy mine in bulk on amazon or eBay to same money since I use a lot of them but you can just take the plug to an auto parts store to get the correct one. Going to Home Depot or Lowe’s will cost you twice as much. Same with oil, filters, belts, etc. Pretty much anything to service or tune up a small engine.

Got a new carb on eBay coming. $13.65 shipped
What part/ID numbers did you use to find the right carb?

Which numbers on the carb? There are some on the side and some on the top. I do see that it is a Keihin carb.

Would it be better to post another thread in the DIY section with questions on how to either clean my carb or find the right replacement one? I have some pics of the gunk in/on it and the whole thing pulled apart. Don't want to keep hijacking @jmccracken1214 's thread!

put a new carb on... now itll crank and run but very slow. Idle is wayyyyyyyyyyy slow.

im done with this turd.
It has adjustment screws. Most(not all) new aftermarket carbs need adjustment. Check to see if yours has any adjustment screws on the carb. If so, are they marked L for low or H for high? The low is for idle speed. Usually turning it counterclockwise(out) will raise the idle. There is also usually a idle adjustment screw on the linkage somewhere going to the carb.

One of the screws is for idle..... search for lawn mower or 4 cycle carburetor tuning on youtube - it's not a big deal. Most new carburetors need to be dialed in. If one is correct once you install it.... that's just luck.

If you get stuck, lemme know. I can give you a hand with it sometime within the next few days.
