I’ve been recruited to make 2 Giraffes, a Lion and an Elephant. My Step daughter is putting on a play at Church next month.

The beginning of the giraffes .

Looking good. Another option is to put your son in this.

I’d have to install a wireless speaker in the lion and have a good sound bite for some real shits and giggles after the church play usage is done :D.

I got it wrong in the title.. It's actually Vacation Bible School " Roar ". Being the theme .

They are due soon and I'm getting close to painting 3 of them and have the elephant skeleton started.
Hope to have it in paper tomorrow and drying for paint..

Had to give the loin a rhinoplasty this morning, it first looked like a bear....

Thank you.

I'm going to try and find some faux fir at Hobby Lobby or some raffia hula skirts for the lions mane..

Those giraffes are super impressive! I hope the elephant is not to scale next to them!

I came into this thread to make some wise ass crack about getting animals to sacrifice at church.....I can't do it. This project is just too cool for words.

I came here with a different wisecrack...but I got my mind changed for me, too lol

I hope it's at least half as much fun as it looks!

Comin' along fine...

Dumb question ... How are you getting them, especially the giraffes, to the church? And I know someone is thinking an ark joke but seriously those are some pretty major pieces to move.

I've got a 6x10 utility trailer... Don't know if they will all fit in one shot though. With enough wood and moving blankets, I think I'll be alright.

Couple sheets of 1/2" ply cut into the shape of a hull and attached to the sides of that... Presto! an Ark!

It would be worth the ticket (at least, from where I sit) if you put on a fake beard, wore a robe, and rode in the trailer while your wife piloted the Ark down the hwy...

After you're done with them, how about using the for safari targets?

Noooo, he's put too much work into them for that. He needs to put on his own rendition of "The Lion King".
After Disney issues the cease and desist order they can be used as targets.

I wish I had just a little bit of that kind of talent! Very cool..... enjoying the progression pics!

Wow. Great work from concept to color! We gonna need some on stage pics, too.

Oh, there will be more pictures... lol.
Going to have to document how I loaded them for the hour and 10 min drive to church , to get them out of there when school is over.

Truly remarkable work! What a treat for the kids. Grateful for your daughter's ministry through VBS.
