Did You Go Shooting Today

1200 rounds between cleanings? Might be a gun for @Millie to consider.

She’d only have to clean it once or twice a week. ;)
LoL. It's time to clean the Glock and the .45.....

PS Not a fan of the SCCY. (Sorry.)

Just home from a nice lunch date, followed by shooting! What could be better?
Shot the .45 after giving it a nice lube (50 rounds) and the G19 (1oo rounds)....extremely hot in the range and lots of people in there! Did better with the Glock today (with its adjusted rear sight) on a regular target, but the squirrels defeated me!

Shot with my 13 year old today...he had a blast! He loved the PSA AK-V and also shot the FN509.

Here is his first group from eight yards with the 509...

Here’s some of his shooting at 15 yards...

This was the AK-V at the end for him. He started at 25 yards and shot 10. Moved to 20, shot 10 and them moved to 15 and shot 10. The last 5 were at about 8 yards and he started from chest up to head...

Lots of smiles and he was 100% safe with everything today. Very proud of him!

Nice shooting! Wish I had started that young, but my family isn't interested in guns/shooting.....sad....

Yep, went to Frontline today. I had some 30-30 loads to test, and a new 224 Valkyrie upper to test.

I had some Sierra 150 FN bullets I had never tried, so I worked up some test loads, 4 rounds per charge. When I got to the 2nd highest charge level, I shot a 1.5” group (50 yards) with 3 in the x ring. I was happy with that, and thought that I probably could not do that again.

Well, I shot the highest charge and had 3 touching in the x ring, and the 4th was 1.5” away.

I think I found my favorite load for my 30-30.

ON EDIT: This was with a new Marbles peep sight - no scope.

With nothing to do today I went back to the range to see if the AR pistol was working any better after changing the roll pin and cleaning the upper. Also, took the 6.5 CM to rezero it after taking off the ballistic turrets.
The 6.5 I think was grouping at 100 yards around .788" and the AR did not miss a beat. Ran 27 or 28 rounds through it with flip up sights and not adjustments. The shots were taken at 50 yards. I can tell you that you do NOT want to shoot this gun inside your house without hearing protection or a good can.

Yeah, 200 more boring rds thru my P365, sigh. I think I’m done with this for awhile, some 1500 rds and can’t get this thing to do anything out of the ordinary.
Accurate, reliable, light, small, night sights, 10/12+1 that the competition can’t match, etc etc.

So boooooorrrrring. ;) o_O :)

Yeah, I really hate it for you.

You are very right about that! When I shoot mine, it sounds like I have a brake on it, but I don't! I make special loads for it using a very fast burning (for rifle) powder and light bullets. Makes it much more pleasant to shoot. But I do keep some electronic muffs next to it just in case I ever need to use it for home defense. The concussion alone will probably drive the intruder away.

his morning running a shooting course from running vehicles.
We've done that twice here...talk about an eye opening experience!!! We had a good turn out today in the Hot and Humid. First time visitor Amp 13. A nice young man And he can shoot.
We have a tree down on the range, it will disappear tomorrow. Getting close to weather I can't shoot in. Old Bear is coming to stay in The Bunk House this week and do some serious shooting.
Altogether another grand week end at The Battery Oaks. As always, wish ya'll were here!!!!

According to my research, 1501 rounds is when they all self-destruct. :D

Visited and shot @BatteryOaksBilly place today. Great host and an amazing shooting haven for us 2nd Amendment loving people. If you have never been you need to beg Billy for an invite. You won’t be sorry!
Met a few others and was great seeing (again) and finally shooting with @Geezer. Sorry about shooting all of your tires Billy, next time I might hit a couple of them hanging steel plates! ;)

50 rounds through Sig 226. Always enjoy shooting this gun.

Put another 50 through new (to me) Remington R1 enhanced. Very impressed with this gun. Locked down the grip safety and pulled all the series 80 parts out of this one. Super trigger.

I finally tuned the ammo for my .45 Doubletap Defense. No more misfires, doubles and now manageable recoil. Can now confidently carry this as a backup.

Millie had a very excellent day at the range!

Shot 100 rounds in the Springfield .45, that thing is awesome! I love it more every time I shoot it. It's a bit of a handful using my left hand, but I'll have that worked out by winter.

Also shot 200 rounds in the Glock 19. Also an awesome gun, though more difficult for me to shoot as well as I do my 1911s. I think I'm getting close to the "perfect" rear sight adjustment. Groups are getting a little tighter together, and I'm encouraged.

I almost died from the heat in the range today, but I lived to tell and had a great shooting day! Next trip I'll be working on the p238 and the revolver.

I just thought you might like to see some of the range evolution and goings on. It's been a 15 year party.

Last picture is entering the compound.

Ran 250 rounds of .38 thru the 66-1 and 442, starting just before noon.

The heatstroke must have made me think I was @Millie.

Pray for me tomorrow....I've registered to do a match in Dunn. I'm taking lots of water, but I don't do well in the heat!
PS Noon?? You gots ta get going earlier, man, to beat the heat! Like 7 am earlier! You got a chiller towel? They help.

One of the rifles I shot today, Rem 700 SPS Tac 20" 223. Sierra Accuracy load, 26.5 grs N540 under 69gr SMK. First 3 shots in the same hole at 100yds. Going to shoot this in Factory class at next UBR match.

Yes. Finally. I have only shot about 3 times in 6 months. So I decided to try something different. I hit the bullseye range at the club and worked at 25 yards. Trying to slow down and just concentrate on the front sight and trigger press. Need to knock off some rust.

Stock Walther PPQ 45.

Looks like I have some work to do. Just wanted to get a baseline today. The above were pretty typical targets. I seem to be in the black about 30% of the time with the 9mm and about 25% with the 45. Had a few obvious fliers with the first few shots with each gun. Had to reacquaint myself with the suppressor height sights on the P07 and the trigger on the PPQ. That trigger is the shizzle. I am going to try and shoot 100 rounds of each every time I hit the range from now on. Then I’ll go shoot other gun or steel.

I shot my old CC S&W stainless Chief to blow the dust out. It's been a long time and I had forgotten how long the trigger pull was. When I pulled off 5 shots in 5 seconds, I pulled out the 1911 and finished up. The 1911 had spoiled me with a light pull, so I will pull "old faithful" out more often. Same hits, just harder pull...duh...:).

Just came in. 100 rounds of 45. An old Springfield built from a Bag O Gun in '84.
The grounds man came and the range looks like Augusta National. That from somebody who's never seen Augusta National.
I painted targets and picked up debris. Looks the best it ever has. Imma lucky old man.....see ya'll tomorrow, On The Range!

When you're our age there are no re-runs. They're all new to us.
I understand. Must be hard to beat a frosty mug of Ensure and Amanda Blake on the screen. :D

Oh, yeah, Miss Kitty, I do remember her.
