Hey guys

CFE Pistol
H38
HS6
W231

I have these powders laying around, but want to know what powders you guys prefer for 9mm

I know everyone has a favorite powder, and load, what are you guys finding best for accuracy in 115 and 124g bullets

Powder
Weight
Length

I loooove me some Titegroup. Many thousands and thousands of 115gr-147gr plated and jacketed bullets fired

My go to load with:
147gr RN
3.5gr
1.135”

124gr RN
3.6gr
1.125”

115gr RN
4.0gr (it’s light but it works fine...4.2gr works well also)
1.120”

The lengths can be varied to suit based on chamber requirements. I only use a taper crimp, enough to knock the bell out.

Depends, lots of good powders for 9mm. For my 16” carbine, the only load I use is RMR 115 RN FMJ, and less than max charge of Power Pistol. But for my pistols, I generally use 115 plated RN bullets, either Xtreme or RMR, and several powders work well, but I still prefer Power Pistol or BE86. Any of the powders you listed will work well, though. AA #5 or #7 are also good.

I use Unique and I like it. It’s lofty and really easy to see an over or under charge. But Unique only burns clean when you load hot. If you’re making a light shooting target load look elsewhere. I’ve also tried W231, AA#7 and Bullseye and they all work. Use what you have to work with.

I still have about 10lb of SR-7625. It was discontinued a few years back and I'll be crushed when it's gone. But, BE-86 is also an excellent and extremely versatile powder.

I use Ramshot Zip and like it a lot. 4.3gr for a 115gr jacketed roundnose. I like it because I can use it in all my pistol loads:380,9mm, 40s&w, and 45 and never have to change over powder in my powder measure.

Get you some Cleanshot. You'll throw that other stuff in the flower beds after a few test rounds.
Crazy low and extremely consistent S.D and E.D. Clean burning and soft recoil

135 gr coated lead/plated jacket
3.2 -3.5 gr powder
1.135 oal.

And cheap. Don't forget it's cheap.

Love me come Cleanshot

I've not tried Shooters World because of hazmat shipping, is there a local seller in the Mooresville area?
I'm in Clemmons, but son and daughter-in-law are in Mooresville and we could make arrangements to pick some up.
I've used Power Pistol, CFEPistol and just picked up Titegroup but haven't developed any load with it yet.

IMR Target is my current favorite for midrange 9mm loads with 124gr Extreme pills or cast 135s. But TG is cheap and plentiful and everywhere.

I pick it up from 1 of the local USPSA shooters at a match. If you’d like a pound to try , I’d be happy to get it and we can arrange pick up later.

I always see the Shooters World powders at the local gun shows. I tried the Auto Pistol and found it worked very well, very close in performance to AA#5.

I'm still burning through the Winchester WSF that I stocked up on after Sandy Hook. Run about 4.5 on 115/124 with about 1.10 length. Burns pretty clean, and I had LOTS of it, lol.

I haven't reloaded in a while...lost the bug for it...but when I did Unique was also my favorite. The fluffiness of it made it easy to see when I was dropping charges. I did think it was kinda dirty if you didn't load on the spicier side as someone mentioned above. It was also very versatile over different calibers, so I would load 9, 45, and 38 in it with equally good results.

I bought a couple pounds of WSF in preparation for loading 9mm. I like 231 in .45 & might give it a whirl, should WSF not do what I want (duplicate our 124gr +P carry ammo).

Favorite all around 9 mm powder is BlueDot.

True story, was talking to one of the old guys at my gun club and the subject of powder came up. He said he liked to load with blue dot cause he enjoyed drinking a little beer while reloading and with blue dot "you could just spill some powder in the case and throw a bullet on top and be good." I thought to myself with age doesn't always come wisdom.

That said, blue dot is so fluffy you probably cant get into trouble with it, with some of the max published loads there's not enough room in the case for the powder and a bullet. :D

I have had some very accurate loads with it though.

I was using hs-6 but it was dirty. Switch to vv n-320 and love it very clean burning. Low recoil when loaded with 115gr berry bullet.
I tend to use single base powders since I cast my own projectiles and Vihtavuori N320 is a favorite under some 147's. 3N37 makes the 124's rip snort pretty good.

I use W231, Power pistol, Unique, and Bullseye. What ever floats my boat the day I am reloading.

Blue dot can get peaky real quick in cold weather. A safe load in the summer can blow cases in the winter.

Blue dot.....gotta be careful. Its niche is getting the most velocity from a non magnum handgun round such as 9mm, 45 acp, 40sw, etc. In 9mm the case is almost full of powder.

@BatteryOaksBilly Well finally remembered to bring the 9mm with me and test. Bullseye 3.5 125 LRN Coated 50 rounds.

Wow! Thank you sir!

Target was 10 yards and they grouped where I pointed. Could not get over it. I shake a lot and that has been a problem for a few years now so being able bring that gun right back was great! Did not take pictures, heat was getting to me. That is now my go to load. I know what I am doing tomorrow.

@ECNC , that same load over Any 9mm weight will give you the same results. It will also give you about 2,000 rounds of pleasure in a one pound keg.
Try that same load..3.5 grains over Any weight .40 or .45. As long as you have factory springs in them it will run them like a top. Again 2K rounds per pound.
I set my Dillon to throw 3.5 grains of BE for Everything I shoot. Life can indeed be simple....if you let it.
