New neighbors

I've been by it.. pretty interesting. Is it supposed to be a house?

I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be a dwelling. It does look like it would be a bit warm during our long summers.

For Halloween, show up at their door dressed as a tramp singing:

I like em' a little on the trashy side. Raise up the foundation a bit, put a roof between the 2, pour some concrete and poof! Insta carport - shelter!

I'd bet it is not finished yet... split logs on the outside would be awesome.

I am going to drop two of these suckers beside the foundation of our cabin when we build it and those will become my man caves.... er... bunkers... er... hermatize myself rooms.

People make some amazing homes from containers! The mention of Frank Lloyd Wright is not off target.

It's clearly not finished. Pretty sweet IMO. If they get county inspections on board it's a great way to build a solid structure. They're overframing the roof to insulate without losing height. I would love to see inside and see how they are furring it out insulating the walls.

I like to see people doing their own thing. Tired of the same boring cookie cutter houses and lame subdivisions. Don't hate on people who are doing their own thing and making their own way just because it's not your way....

I don't know why I didn't think of this.

I don't know why I didn't think of this.

I plan on doing something similar for my shop/storage/man-cave.

Mine will be a corrugated flat roof though with raised beds for a living roof/garden. Insulation for the building and the deer/rabbits can't get to the garden...

There are actually three sections in the shape of a block 'C'.
I have cousins that have a fairly large trailer setup. He buys the “good half” of trailers that have been damaged in fires or whatever else, and pushes it up next to a wall and cuts a doorway. :D

That’s a freaking EMP proof bugout fort type dwelling right there yes sir it is.

I like it but it needs to be down in the woods a wee bit.

I’m a bit curious. If the units are raised above ground then why do they not have to be 30” minimum for a crawl space?

They will get cooked like a turkey regardless of the insulation rating. It needs to be in the woods.

Incorrect, there are exterior paints you use on these boxes that block the thermal transfer from the sun to the metal. Just putting a roof on blocks a tremendous amount of heat. Then put in 2” closed cell foam panels foil backed and you can get up to r30 values in the box.

Been there, seen that in my refrigeration installs in metal buildings and factory boxes. The sun on direct metal is a sum of a beach. The roof is key but might want to double that foam board.

Link to this magic paint please. I would like to recommend this to a couple customers.

I have personally been in a shipping container in Durham, in August covered with this. High 98 outside, inside was 75-80. Untreated box that we had our Sheetrock in was 120 inside. Not magic but science, and science is cool.
