Leading GOP senator files gun control bill on eve of special session in Virginia

Just sent him an email. Fun times.

I'm sure that if it had been illegal to have a gun on the campus at Virginia Beach, the shooter would have seen the sticker and not shot anyone.

Sen. Thomas K. Norment Jr. (R-James City), the chamber’s majority leader, proposed a bill that would ban firearms from local government buildings around the state and make any violation a felony.
Sounds like the stupid piece of GOP trash is a scared little weenie that wants a "law" to protect him by keeping people with guns away from his safe space, er, I mean "legislative office" - doh. Maybe the window licking idiot should reconsider some of the crap he's proposing, like gun control and maybe he wouldn't have a reason to be so fearful.

The ball is rolling.....down hill..
“muster” at 8:30 a.m.
where to “muster”
Above used to refer to Military action...already a negative slant.
Northam has said he would dedicate his term in office to fighting racial disparities.
Is that the Race card being shuffeled up in the deck?
Republicans filed several measures designed to stiffen penalties for violations of gun laws
Sensible actions...
Democrats, many of whom called on Northam to resign earlier this year, have rallied around him over gun control
Apparently Gun Control is a quick Healer.
His priorities include a ban on devices that make guns fire faster or hold more bullets; limiting handgun purchases to one per month; instituting universal background checks; and allowing courts to seize weapons from someone deemed to be a threat.
Sen. Graham in on this?
Raising mandatory minimum sentences is a route that Northam has already said he opposes, arguing that it disproportionately affects people of color.
And there it is^^^^^^^^^^^who Ever doubted the Race Card would be played

They are coming...……..what will You do???

You know, I just had a convo about that with a former Marine the other day/Sunday.

And I asked on here a bit back what did O ban during his term - it was, like, one kind of imported ammo from one country (Russia, maybe?). That's it.
But, in less than half the time we have a ban on bumpstocks with talk about suppressors.
Yeah, if we dont vote R...

(and I know how your meme was meant, not saying youre that way)

That is about the most ridiculous reasoning I have heard in a long time. It is also extremely racist. He is saying that one group in the population commits a proportionally larger percent of violent crimes using firearms than do other groups but should not be held to the same standard or receive the same punishment as other groups because of their ethnicity. People of color with any self respect should be outraged at such a suggestion. Liberals from both sides have no shame and very little solid reasoning.

From the comments...

I was there in person. Sat in on the last hour of the house session. One “moms demand action” supporter forgot her phone, came back in and said “thank you, I’ve got to run, the bus is waiting for me”.

Bussed in moms. Pathetic. And I was being yelled at with chants of “shame”. Several school aged kids were also bussed in.

Takeaways from this:

1. Gun Control advocates (Almost all D's and some R's) want control. Almost every law proposed would not have made any difference in mass shootings, they just want to disarm the law abiding folks.

2. Most any politician will do whatever it takes to get reelected. If that means upholding the 2nd amendment, fine. If that means selling out the 2nd amendment, oh, well.

3. Fired up, energized voters EN MASS influence #2.

4. Every bill, pro or against the 2nd amendment, needs a strong vocal response. Put the fear of ELECTORAL DEFEAT in the politicians and you have a hope of getting what you want.

We all have to be involved constantly, to the best of our ability.

I have been engaged with my representation. I will crank up my efforts. Hope you all can as well.

(if not, guess what... No condemnation from me. You do you and I will do me. )

How do we rectify that?
I'll attend a muster.

Organization. Get togethers. Local and regional groups sitting down to break bread, situate themselves and train together to respond to emergencies that may from time to time arise, bethey natural or man-made.

It's what our great great great great great grandfathers did - serving in a capacity in which their skills were useful.

It’s up there with claiming “white privileged” or “white supremacy” as the excuse for their lack of socioeconomic status. It’s the same thing as claiming it’s due to “black inferiority” but apparently they either don’t realize they’re insulting themselves or don’t care if it furthers their agenda. As you said, no shame.

Just as they try to claim school disciplinary action rates being disproportionate to their percentage of the population is proof of discrimination.

What often times seems to get glossed over is the fact that on several occasions, before 1776, that thousands of armed men met the Redcoats in battle. It wasn’t just a few famous rabble rousers.

"news" today consists almost exclusively of outrage mongering. unfortunately, there is plenty to be outraged about.

News used to be something that was published or broadcast more as a service in a time slot around the programming that was advertisement revenue generating. While there was still slant or spin, they tried to keep a certain level of integrity. Now, it's all about hype to get people to tune into sell advertisements. In other words, news has a profit motive.

it's always about the money. Ironically, if i recall correctly, the FCC only grants broadcast licenses based on public need and community service.

They will be back at it in October though. Was all over the local news this evening. They were also talking about the money that it cost for the special session. What a bunch of crap! Both Dems and Repu. need to _ _ _ _ _ _ . I am just fed up.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere, those mom's that demand tyranny...I mean "action", are the same ones who had a whole lot to do with NCs changing of the gun laws, back in 2004.

Not that I trust republicans, but I can't remember the last time I saw a democrat introduce a pro gun bill of any kind. I am nearly 50.

Nor vote for a pro-gun bill, nor vote against any bill that adds more infringement to the 2A. Go online and look at NC's legislature web site, pick any gun-related vote and see the summary by party. It is not hyperbole to say that every Democrat in every office will vote against us 100% of the time. And yea, sometimes a few of the Republicans will, too, but most of the time it's just a few. Usually the R's stab us in the back by not bringing a bill to a vote; they are scared of passing it but don't want to go on record against it. I guess that's better than actively working against us. Sucks, but that's where we are.

I applaud activists who bring cockroaches to light and make them scurry.

Just one question, though, for those whose indignation and outrage at the sleaziness of politicos calls for despair, like this is some intolerable burden to watch the state, as if it were expected to behave itself.

JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK PATRICK HENRY MEANT WHEN HE SAID "THE PRICE OF LIBERTY IS ETERNAL VIGILANCE"

Was he just angling for a spot in "Bartlett's Quotations" or did he mean that this continuous expectation that the state would misbehave should be a part of our ORDINARY expectations?

If the latter, then how in God's name can you support, even in theory, the idea of a centralized state in DC in the first place? And if not, should your political goal not be the DESTRUCTION of that state by the very political activity you are advocating to "keep them honest" (pardon me while I collapse into fits of laughter)?

I think you want to buy half the cow and walk it home. All the Lee Greenwood songs and weepy bawling out of the star spangled banner with hands over hearts isn't going to make that possible.

Read Anatomy of the State. It is a short little tract.
it is a free pdf at mises.org. expand your thinking.
