Our Great Pyrenees Farm Dog cornered this ground hog in the garden at 5pm today. I heard the ruckus, walked to within 6 ft and shot 'im in th' haid!

My dogs caught one while I was at work the other night. They left him in the driveway sans head for me.

A Great Pyrenees has no kill drive, which makes 'em good livestock protection animals. She chases, corners and worries 'em.

I'm all the time finding possums dead in the pasture where my 3 pyres have killed them.

What was ya totinā€™?

I've heard tell groundhog is good eatin'. My missus would have a stroke if she caught me fryin' some up.

My dad said growing up they would have it often. But that it smelled really bad and tasted good. That would have been in the 1950's WV cooking.

I think you're mixing up your stories. He wasnt talkin' about ground hogs.

Years ago we had an Alaskan malamute that was a terror on groundhogs. We had a rather large garden and our fair share of ground hogs. If they werenā€™t down their hole before she got there they were done.

Y'all need not be a wasting them whistle pigs like that.
Put 'em in a pot and boil them for a couple of days and eat 'em on a cat head biscuit.

How many of those critters can you get me skinned and gutted?
I wish I could get a few... there's lots of groun' hogs that need killin' 'round here. But it ain't easy. I've shot 5 and collected one!

So, to answer yer question... not many! If'n the situation changes, I'll call ya!

Iā€™ll stop by for a groundhog shoot! 223 or 22 mag, whichever better suits your area.

The Farm is inside the GSO City Limits... so ya gotta be silent and invisible.

If'n I coulda used 223 or 22mag, 4 of 'em wouldn't have limped off and died somewhere else!

Sounds like an air rifle is needed.

If I am right there, one shot from whatever handgun is on me will work, no one will question a single Bang!

Otherwise, I have been using a 24" barrel .22 rifle and Small Game Bullets. They are real quiet.

Problem is, them hogs are tough! They take a mortal wound, and skedaddle!
