Moving to the Charlotte soon

10-4. That’s good to know. Why is the CHP hard to get in less than 90 days? I was reading the penal code a while back and seem to remember a state mandated duration that the sheriff has to deny you. It sounded like a breeze compared to the hoops we jump through here in California to get a carry license.

It wasn't bad under our last democratic Sheriff but our new Democrat Sheriff has canned 287g and turned us into a sanctuary city. I'm 4th generation native Charlottean and the influx of Dems from blue states is ruining the place. Welcome, I think?

hi, just wanted to introduce myself. My wife and I will be moving out to Charlotte from the Bay Area California in the next 4 months. I’ve done my best building up a collection while under anti 2a rule here in California and can’t wait to live in a free state with other like minded people.

Welcome to the forum new bruh :)

The short version is a disagreement on when the clock starts. Some areas will say it doesn’t start until the mental health checks are all returned, and that can seemingly take months.

I’ve been in Meck since ‘76. Not proud of that, but it’s home.

So it sounds like The sheriff sets the tone and it’s more may issue. Hopefully I can offset some of the liberal influx. Can cities issue permits or is that power Only held by the sheriff?

The Sheriff does it. It is shall issue. You shouldn't have any problems getting one.

North Carolina indoctrination lesson #1: we don’t say “penal” unless it’s either preceded or followed by a punchline, or the word “extension.”

@Broncobeast you sound like you'll be a positive addition to the area however please make a point to remember how free NC looks today and the first time you think "oh it's just a little more tax or a little more regulation and it's still way less than CA" hit yourself with something heavy and vote no more tax no more regulation. Not trying to be unwelcoming but so many of us who escaped to the Carolinas didn't learn that lesson and in the 20 years I've been here I've watched Charlotte quickly catch up to the NE in liberal stupidity and corruption.

Absolutely agree. It kills me when people justify a small tax increase for a government service that isn’t even a power of government to provide. I’m a believer in the true and proper role of government centered in limited power.

I work hard for my money and try to provide for my family. I expect others to do the same without reliance on government.

I’m looking forward to opening up and meeting more like minded people.

It wont take long on being here to stop the Ca attitude.. I had 50 yrs under my skin ... Belt.
After a few Thank yous, door openings, yes Sirs and Pardon me's you'll forget all about it.

That's because very few that live here now are natives. The outsiders have come in with the "That's not how we do it back home" attitude. Well, if you don't like it, I-95 does go north!

Oh I know. We've been here since 1998. When I got here there were plenty of natives saying don't move here with a "That's not how we do it back home attitude" but their position was overrun shortly thereafter and it's been full steam to the left ever since.

one day......history will repeat itself. And the Hornet's Nest logo will not just be a historical anomaly

Charles Caldwell to George Washington, when asked:

"Charlotte, sir, the county town of Mecklenburg, and the place where independence was declared about a year before its declaration by Congress. . . ."

The President, however, evidently was not particularly impressed with the county town of Mecklenburg. In his own diary of the southern trip he described Charlottetown as "a trifling place."

Wanted to provide and update:

my wife just got a job offer out in Charlotte. They will pay her the same as what she’s making in San Francisco plus pay moving expenses and then 3 months of living expense so I can stay in San Francisco and finish up a project for my company. It’s hard to say no to that. They want her to start in mid April.

Damn! You’ll live pretty darn well on just her salary alone out here.

Welcome to the Carolina's!
Come on in, the waters fine.

No pistol permit required trumps the crap out of open carry.
Not really...especially for those that plan on getting a CHP. ;)

My NC CHP negates the PPP process...but a SC CHP still won’t allow open carry. :p

I have no interest in advertising, so open carry is a non issue for me.

Welcome to NC and CFF. Go ahead and find you something about 30 minutes east of CHARLOTTE and you should be ok midland, locust or somewhere in between good little area to live most folk moving out of Charlotte for said reasons.

@Goofyfoot2001 Left boot, right boot, what's the difference? You're still under a boot just like the rest of us. Stop kidding yourself.

@Broncobeast welcome to the Carolinas where nobody can agree on where best to live, who makes the best BBQ, or which caliber is best to carry.

So what area of town did ya'll decide on?

One more update. My wife received her acceptance letter to UNNC for fall in a master program and I started my transfer process at work. The wife should be in NC in a month and I’ll be out there closer to August.
