My brother and I are looking for a place to lease to go camping in the North Carolina mountains. We're not looking for a large place. Just something to put two tents on. We will be tent camping only. Something north of Interstate 40 would be preferable. We don't drink, do drugs, or raise hell. Just looking for a place for two old men to camp and spend some quiet time in the mountains. We used to do the campground thing but now you have to have a reservation at nearly all campgrounds. Too much noise too. If anyone knows of any place please let me know. All help would be greatly appreciated.

I know of several spots but since we don't have a clue where YOU are I can't comment.. Try filling out your location and maybe someone will assist... DUH..

Ignore BB, apparently his shoes are too tight today. In winter you can find places to tent camp pretty easy. You might want to look around Wilson Creek and Brown Mountain. Pretty popular in the spring and summer, but probably deserted right now.

He said NC mountains, prefer north of I40.
Why do you care where he is?
No need to be a prick.
We got more than we need, already.
To the OP, good luck to find what you are looking for.

Bailey Boat is cool. There's no problem with his post. My brother and I are just two old dudes that love to camp in the mountains. We are just tired of camp grounds. That's why we want to find a place to lease.

You can "dry camp" almost anywhere in National Parks, except on fire roads or other "no camping" marked spots. The spouse and I camp in the old horsecamp area in Uwharrie National Forest often. It has been a long while since I was in Smokies Nat'l Park but, I am sure you can hike a bit and find an excellent spot to spend some quiet time.

We're looking for a place to lease on a yearly basis so we will have a place to go whenever we want. Sometimes he can go when I can't . Sometimes I can and he can't .

Like was said, any National Forest or Shining Rock Wilderness. Why lease something when there are thousands of acres of public land that you can camp on for free?

So a place away from all the hippies so you can hide a body or two if needed.

A little difficult to haul a 12x14 wall tent and wood stove back into Shining Rock.

I totally get what you are looking for and can relate. Lots of public land but having your "own" slice has appeal. There is public land for hunting too but lots of hunters seek leases too...

I wish I could justify having my own spot in the woods/mountains but can't afford. Renting/leasing a spot makes sense. Good luck with your search! Maybe let me know what you find... :)

Well guys I found a camping spot . It's not where I wanted but it's very private and quiet . Kinda small , only 59 1/2 acres .

Congrats. That seemed like a long search, hope it was worth the wait.

Congrats! It took a while but glad you found a place.
