.......... is scripted.

I have come to that conclusion after watching it off and on the last year or so. I don't think all of it is scripted but it is extremely obvious that some of it is scripted.

It's funny to watch. I don't think it's doing much good for law enforcement. My opinion anyway.

It’s painting law officers as ignorant self righteous preachers. All the talking they do and giving advise. How about all the officers with full arm tats. Tonight’s episode showed a guy being pulled violently out of a car for speeding. He was black and the girlfriend was blasting it was done because of his race.

How about a guy who calmly gave up but when the cops got to him they slung him to the ground and drove knees into his back. Pretty sure they have an audience sitting in a chair getting pissed at what they see.

Cops is the best cops show.

That unholy abomination "911" is so stupid.

What was the guy doing that he had to calmly give up? I mean when a situation has been escalated You can't really blame someone for taking it seriously to the end.

I have to admit that made me laugh a little. You have to respect that guy because he actually went hands on with the guy. The others standing there didn't seem to want to touch him. That was a super short clip so I can't say that for sure kind of looked that way.

That is pretty much from the second the officer pulled up. Exited his car ran up and dropped him lol. All the others were standing around and i believe one had already deployed a taser.

Yeah you can see the taser wires still attached when he took him down.

Not seen it, figured it was like COPS, how is it scripted?

"They" say, Most Watched Show On Cable TV. Most folks are Far Removed from LE daily doings. Curious Couch Cablers.
I call BS. Outperforming the NFL are they? This is what I like about media. You can say anything and over half of America will believe it.

"Cable"
Much of the NFL and other big sports are on local networks (ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX)

But I agree, there are other shows people love and I hear a lot about that I doubt they are 'beating'

Just some of the situations they show somtime seem scripted. My wife and I were watching it last night and she agreed. BTW, on last night's episode, Dan Abrams slipped up at one point and stated that one particular scene was not scripted. It was really weird because he said that right after my wife and I were having our discussion about our thoughts of some of the show being scripted.

Well, sadly, much of the 'reality' tv is scripted.
Like the Pawn Stars show, the show about the storage buildings, duck dynasty
They create situations for the 'stars' to use

Well it probably is the number one cable show this time of year. Summer TV sucks donkey balls. It's kind of like when CBS releases a new sitcom half way through the year and the second episode will say The highest rated new comedy.

Anyone see the dropkick to the naked guy on acid?
I though that was uncalled for, they could have used LTL bean shotgun round or the Taser.
Granted the man could have been on PCP or anything no way to tell but I guess the guy did not feel it when he went down?

I like the Oklahoma HP, they grab the AR during auto theft stops.

Taser did not work. He was going around assaulting people. I got no sympathy. Good chance anything else gets him or LE hurt more than that drop kick. Probably less risky than an outright tackle. Or at the least, same risk. And who wants to tackle the naked guy?

My biggest question is this. Is that show supposed to make LE look better or worse to the public? Because it's really a toss up. Maybe it's the lens I see it through. But some of those arrests are likely getting tossed if the defense is smart enough to get the video. And some of them are doing just that now. Some of it just seems pretty sketchy, even if the people are just as sketchy.

It all depends on your mindset. If you are pro Law Enforcement you'll see things you like, if you are anti, there will be plenty of red flags too.

FWIW,

This is not an anti-LE thread. It's merely a thread about my observations watching a television show. I am not anti-LE and have had several good encounters with LE in the past. Have had one or two slightly negative as well but nothing to get bent out of shape over.

Close friend of mine is one of the Richland County SC LivePD regulars. He just comments about the fake sirens...that’s about it

I’ve also seen incidents where, unless my take on SCOTUS case law is wrong, they walked all over someone rights. Mostly involving searches. I don’t think it’s asking too much for the LEO to have at least the basic understanding of case law that I’ve managed to accumulate. Like you can’t extend a traffic stop to wait for a K9.

I make no judgements. People see what they want to see.

Is it that guy that has tree trunks for arms? I like that guy. He seems like a great guy and does make an effort to work with people.

I'm thinking the big hairbun lady was in Richland County as well. Not sure however. She was kind of heavy set with black hair put up in a big bun. :)
