My wife and I have one boy. I always joked if we had another boy, we'd name him Remington. She hated it l. Smith & Wesson was agreed on for twins looooong before that. She recently discovered she's pregnant with our second, or second and third, but we don't have a sex or number yet. Now she loves the name Remington.

If we have twins, I'm covered. Many Smith and Wesson guns around here.

If I only have one boy, I'm screwed. I've never owned a Remington. Probably only shot 4 or 5, and wouldn't even remember what model they are or if the functioned well.

I need recommendations for an awesome Remington worthy of passing on someday.
Budget up to $3k.

Yes, I'll probably buy it even if I have a girl. But legend has it, I won't have girls.

@degenerateJEFF Congrats on the new kid(s)
As far as a Remington to pass down, I would go with a 700 bolt gun. One of those with letters prefixing the receiver serial number.
As far as finding one goes, @knifeman32 told me recently that he's been buying estates and collections for resale. He cant do ftf, because of health concerns, but will definitely ship.
@cubrock might also run across them pretty frequently.
I bet either one of those could help you find older, quality Remingtons.

Model 4 rolling block .22

In all seriousness if you want a project out of it I have one that needs a lot of help for cheap.

Best bet though is the best one you can find on the net.

Appreciate the leads. Don't have that much free cash right now. Probably won't until I re-enlist again but nice to have a general direction to point!

I've got a old 1st year model 700 30-06 I'd let go.
You'll be the first I talk to when I re-enlist again! Just don't hold your breath. I think I need to hit 10 yrs. to be eligible again.

I wish I had the kind of time to put into something like that! I have to schedule range time a month in advance as is haha.

870 shotgun or 700 rifle. Older model, pre-Cerberus/Freedom Group....
Yep PRE-FREEDOM GROUP for sure! I have bought only one item from Remington since that fiasco began ... a 5R 700 bolt gun ... and will likely continue that trend. After how the parent company has screwed Bushmaster, Marlin, Para Ordnance and every other acquisition I just can’t stomach their BS. If you do go with Remington I’d suggest a vintage 870 Wingmaster or an old wood stocked CDL 700.

Or even better go back to another Remington ... Remington Rand and buy a nice grade WWII Remington Rand 1911!

Only Legends have girls, so your probably safe.

Congrats man and 3K on a Remington would be crazy. Buy them a shotgun and be proud.
First born has my lever .500 when I die. Figure try and go close in value, but really it's all sentiment. We've got a pre-65 Winchester model 70 we still hunt with too. All about keeping those heirloom guns around!

Personally I think that Remington would not be a bad name for a girl. You could call her Remmy for short
Wife's had a girl name picked out for 7 years since a week after we were married though. I don't disagree with you.

Good for you, man. Sounds like a good life for those kids. Wow. Congrats.
I'd rather have a safe with a few good guns than 3 with none.

Pre 2007 or so 700, 870 or 1100. Any of those models will work........You could get all 3 for under 3k, just depending on what model.

@Have gun-will travel was telling me, this afternoon, that a friend is planning to buy a $6000 Remington.

I read this story to my wife and we are cracking up. She said at least he is staying away from Glock name.

Now about a Remington Rand? This one isn’t for sale but I’m sure you could find one. My twins who just turned 16 have a friend who is a girl named Remington, goes by Remmy.

I'm having a hard time following the OP. Maybe it's the alcohol.

You want to name a kid after a gun manufacturer, and then buy a gun with the kid's name on it to give the kid when you die? Is that how I'm reading this?

Dumb it down a bit for me, please, and I'll be glad to add my too sense.

Sounds like you got it. Obviously both kids will have other guns as well. Although I wouldn't necessarily have to die, it'd be a gift regardless but also willed.

Older 700 Classic. Nice rifles.
I wouldn't recommend anything made in the last decade, possibly two. Cept maybe 870s, but they don't become heirlooms til they've logged decades of hunts in family's hands. The best 700s are kinda the same really.

Im naming my kid Tanfoglio. Call him Tanfo for short. "TANFO YOU IDIOT GET BACK ON THAT LOADING PRESS!!"

Has a good ring to it. And can't really name him Ceska Zbrojovka. That's a bit too much.

When we were having twins, I wanted to name one William and the other one Robert, so I could call them Billy/Bob.
That didn't fly.
