Four LEOs shot responding to Philadelphia incident. Shooter still active. Area on lockdown. Caution urged.

shepherd smith is breathlessly reporting live on fox - apparently multiple suspects with at least 5 police reported shot now

At least four Philadelphia police officers were wounded, at least one reportedly shot in the head, in an ongoing shootout in the city's Nicetown neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

The second officer was said to have been shot in the arm and both were rushed to Temple University Hospital. One officer was in critical condition while the other's condition remained unknown, officials told Fox 29.

Must not be a white male this time. At least I haven’t saw it said anywhere

Fox reported narcotics officers serving warrants when the shooting started.

Why is Billy Joel's, We Didn't Start the Fire ringing in my head?

According to the current news reports, it sounds like a real clustercluck! Over 30 officers have discharged their weapons, 6 have been shot and two are still trapped in the house.

Hope my daughter’s old volleyball friend is safely tucked away. Never understood why she wanted to go to Temple and Philly.

maybe if we were getting more criminals off the street - that might solve the problems with crime.

So 3 people against at least 30, 2 still hanging in the fight and terrified, panicked calls into dispatch with officers down?

And there are people arguing for confiscation of guns and mass arrests?

Hmmm, 3 somewhat motivated individuals have/are holding off a group ten times their size?
Interesting, wonder what a highly motivated group could do?

Fox reports all officers have been discharged from the hospital. Suspect is in contact with police for the first time since shootings.
They say he has an AR rifle and has fired approx. 100 rounds. Mayor is upset the man has this much firepower. o_O

suspect id'd - and of course had a record a mile long. but instead - we should focus on gun control and ignore the fact that he should have been locked up in the first place

As a felon, Maurice Hill was legally barred from possessing a firearm; in fact, he was previously convicted in federal court of illegally doing just that. You can read Maurice Hill’s extremely lengthy state criminal history here. Over the years, many criminal charges ended up not being prosecuted by authorities, including firearms offenses and accusations of reckless endangerment.

The mayor used the shooting press conference to highlight gun control issues.

“Our officers need help…. They need help with gun control. They need help with keeping weapons out of these people’s hands,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said. “This government, federal and state’s level, doesn’t want to do anything about getting these guns off the streets and getting them out of the hands of criminals.”

Just another day passing the buck. His police force handled this poorly and rather than deal with it he blames guns, cause guns can’t speak for themselves.

This was touched on in Day of Wrath. Deliberate taxing of available resources. It wouldn't take much to immobilize a city.

I agree that the officers need help...but it aint in the way of gun control.
With that dude's record, why is he still a threat to society?

And surprise suprise - gun laws on the books werent followed by a criminal :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I was in Philly when they burned down a whole block of row houses in doing battle with similar people.

I honestly am surprised that Kamala and AOC aren’t on CNN talking about how the stiff drug penalties forced this man to use an easily available assault rifle to defend himself from such police overreach. How selling narcotics is his only form of income in Donald Trump’s America.

We have an epidemic here, but it is the lack of common sense and humor in this country. It isn’t guns, it isn’t drugs, it is being raised to think there are no consequences for your actions.

I had to quote your complete thought. It's true but for one little twist... There isn't any consequences any more, or hardly any.

You are absolutely correct. I truly believe it started with the “participation trophy movement”. When there are no winners or losers, or incentives to try your hardest.

Have no fear, if we as a nation make it trough this, we will breed the toughest generation in many. It will just be some of the hardest times that bring it.

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” ~ Michael Hopf
